We are a mere matter of days away from the annual party time festival known as SXSW. With only a few more work days in site, I think the ATH crew is mentally prepared for whats about to go down. Im continuing the SXSW interview fun with some answers from our Corpus Christi neighbors in The Blind Owls. Hit the jump for their thoughts.
I am so not ready for SXSW right now… are you? Well ready or not, it’s right around the corner and we’ve all got to prepare ourselves for the oncoming party. As usual, ATH has tons of interviews lined up to help expose you to some of the acts coming into town in a couple of weeks. My first one is with British indie act Mt. Wolf. Mama, we made it! This past weekend, we loaded up our best jousting gear and chain mail armor and made the jaunt out to Sherwood Forest in McDade for the first ever Sound on Sound Festival. With the excellent lineup, new approach to booking a location and trusted leaders at the helm, we knew we were in for a whole different festival experience, but what we got was something that went beyond expectations. We came, we saw, we conquered, and some of us felt as though we’d never be dry again (damn rain!). It was a spectacular weekend filled with merriment and music– read on for ATH’s thoughts on day one and to relive Friday with B.Gray’s pretty pics.
Wild Nothing
Hey did you hear a festival is going on this weekend? You didn’t? What an idiot. So yeah the brand spanking new Sound on Sound Festival is going down this weekend at Sherwood Forest and we are of course here again to prepare you for the weekend. As usual, we’ve got some sweet interviews lined up with some of our favorite bands on the bill. I say we kick this thing off with one of our favorite acts all time, Wild Nothing. Jack Tatum has always made incredible music and has always been a true class act. Check out his responses to our S.O.S. questions after the jump.
The Austin City Limits Festival lineup was announced earlier this morning, and as rumored by everyone, Radiohead will be headlining both weekends. As usual I’m digging on the undercard with bands like Frightened Rabbit, Mr. Conor Oberst, and Saint Motel as highlights for me. And it looks like we’ll getting some Flying Lotus action back in Austin after the unfortunate turn of events around Levitation Festival. We hope with our interviews you guys are getting some exposure to a few acts you may not have known about coming in for SXSW. That’s the goal with these things anyway… It’s hard to believe that we are now under a week to go, but I’m finally feeling ready. SXSW is how soon you say? Hard to believe we are just a short couple of weeks away at this point. I’m not sure any of us are ever fully prepared, but we will find a way to power through.
