Fun Fun Fun Fest is a week and some change away, so I’m going to bring you more previews of artists that deserve your time and attention at Auditorium Shores or at FFF Nites. Today’s spotlight falls on Joanna Gruesome , a band out of Cardiff whose punkish pop tunes are bound to be the perfect atmosphere for the festival. The band is touring in support of their most recent album, Peanut Butter, that came out earlier this year which has been calling the public’s attention to the group and their effortless dichotomy between harsh rock and roll and sugary sweet vocals. Take a listen below to the lead single from that release, and then check them out at the festival. Joanna Gruesome play Saturday at 1:20 on the Orange Stage as well as at 9:15 at RIP Red 7 (611 E. 7th) on Friday Night. Also, don’t forget to pick up your wristband early at The Funderdome and take advantage of all the extra benefits the folks at Transmission are offering you:

The final schedule is TBD, but at least you can start planning your must-haves and can-skips knowing you have a second shot at chilling with the artists in the poster in the corner of this post.
THE NITES ARE FREE!!!
FFF’s web minions notified us an interactive lineup by day and stage has been unleashed, so if you want pick a single day to party ultra hard instead of surviving three days of festing, you can purchase a single day ticket starting tomorrow for $79. There are also going to be some discounted student wristbands. I am signing up for a karate lesson to qualify.

I went to school in Oklahoma, so I’ve got to rep the OK bands from time to time. One of the acts that’s been on my radar is Broncho, kicking out catchy garage jams that encourage anthemic sing-alongs. The group has just put out their debut, Can’t Get Past the Lips, and now they’re in the full swing of a nation-wide tour. If you’re looking for hooks and a bit of grit that harkens back to the swagger of the 70s, then you’re definitely going to love listening to this group. They’ll be playing a show in Austin at FFF Fest Nites over at Red 7, so get your ears ready.
