New Post Rock from Loose Tooth

loosetoofSometimes you find a band hitting their stride, and it ends up being the perfect sound to your day.  This was much the case when I first tossed on this new song from Loose Tooth; the band are readying the release of their debut Easy Easy East.  While the song opens with an alternative rock bend, they turn things on its side, switching the timing of the track, filling it with discordant guitars and emphatic vocals that blast through your speakers…and then they slow it down.  It’s an approach that makes the band sound as if they’re going all over the place, but they do it in their own organized fashion…making it a success.  Look for their album on April 21st via Fleeting Youth Records.

Crunchy Guitar from Van Dale

vandeeOur friends at Fleeting Youth Records are on a pretty good roll here in 2015; they’re cornering the market on crunchy guitar pop (sometimes of the nerdier sort).  Today I bring you another tune from the soon to be released self-titled Van Dale album; this one features more of the distorted guitar we heard on their earlier single, but there’s a cocksure swagger that inevitably builds into a delicious hook you want wrapped around your ears. You want something you an turn up loud and play air guitar to? Then grab the record on March 31st!

Another Robot Princess Tune For Ya

robotThis new Robot Princess reminds me so much of Los Campesinos, and I’m totally loving it.  The tune opens up rather slowly, featuring a male/female vocal duet of sorts, but like all great pop stylings, the band pick up the pace, getting a little bit more anxious in their delivery.  It’s a fun tune, for sure, but I feel as if the construction does enough to keep things interesting…always a good sing.  Label this as another reason we here at ATH are really anticipating their Teen Vogue LP/Action Moves EP; it’s available on March 24th via Fleeting Youth Records.

Digging This New Van Dale Jammer

vandWhen you press play on the tune below, you’re going to think it’s your run-of-the-mill indie rocker; it’s got a decent pace, but it’s mostly relaxed college rock (not that that’s bad by any means).  Still, you’ve got to hold on as Van Dale unleashes some crunchy guitar that brings a boisterous bit of noise to the typical affair.  It takes on a tone of what I always dreamed and hoped Weezer would become…they didn’t…so we’ve got these guys to bring it instead.  On March 31st, the trio will release their self-titled album via Fleeting Youth Records.

Nerd Pop from Robot Princess

RobotPOur friends over at Fleeting Youth Records (buy local!) passed this tune from their latest signing, Robot Princess, my way, and I’ve been rocking it pretty loud.  I’m a huge fan of the playful style that fills the various verses in the track; it’s got nerdy narratives, which is a huge bonus for a dork like myself.  The chorus has crunchier distorted guitar, harkening back to glory days of good old college rock.  The label will be releasing the bands Teen Vogue LP and their new Action Moves EP together, in what I can only assume is a rad package on March 24th.

Passenger Peru Ready New LP

peeI’m a little late to this tune, but I think listening to Passenger Peru will do you some good today.  There’s something quite interesting in the way the band construct their songs; they have this entrancing quality based on the rhythmic grooves they’ve created, akin to Finback, though heavier handed.  Still, those chugging riffs are offset by this really bright moment that bursts forth in the middle of tune.  Frankly, it’s exciting, as it’s far from you average piece of indie rock.  Their LP, Light Places, is set for release on February 24th via Fleeting Youth Records.

Can You Dig ScotDrakula

sdWednesday’s are always good for some crunchy rock n’ roll, which is perfect since we’ve got this rad track from ScotDrakula to offer you today.  The Australian three-piece have some similarities to everyone’s favorite modern garage-rockers, but this, like Natural Child, seems to be more inspired by the history of Nashville songwriting.  There’s still some grit coming forth in the howl of frontman Matt, so you’ll definitely get your rock n’ roll dosage for the day.  The group are releasing a double-cassette on December 16th via Fleeting Youth Records, which will include their album Burner and their Break Me Up EP, which is where this tune finds a home.

Mumblr Give us Another Jam

artworks-000089723495-madmrp-t500x500Philadelphia based Mumblr is easily becoming one of my bands to watch this year that not many people are really paying attention to.  The lack of coverage for the band is pretty unfortunate with the quality of music they seem to create over and over.  Today the band have yet another rockin’ tune to add to their repertoire called “Got It” which can be found below.  I just can’t seem to get enough.

Pick up Mumblr’s new album entitled Full of Snakes via Fleeting Youth Records on September 16th.

Great New Track From Mumblr

downloadIt’s well known that we are in full support of local label Fleeting Youth Records and the great artists they continue to pick up.  Today we’ve got a new song for you called “Philadelphia” coming your way from Philly based rock group Mumblr.  I love that the song seems to be inspired by harder indie rock groups like Cursive with the emotional vocals and strong guitars.  Keep it up doods.

Mumblr’s new album, Full of Snakes, is due out September 16th.
