Nice Pop Jam from Young Buffalo

After releasing the excellent Young Von Prettylips EP earlier this year, Young Buffalo is back with a brand new track to win you over today.  The duo has just released a new single that we’ve got here for you today, titled “Baby Demons.”  There’s a bit of an angular jaunt that kicks off the track, but the distance of the vocals really give this track an old school sort of feel to it, and not in that blatantly nostalgic sort of way.  If the band keeps writing tracks like this one, then there’s telling where they’ll go, but our bet is that it’s going to be awesome.

New Music (and album) from Fungi Girls

Earlier this year I caught Fungi Girls as an opening act, and I remember thinking to myself how young they were, in looks, not musical sound.  The Cleburne, TX trio definitely do seem young in person, but their music seems like it was washed in the glory days of San Francisco.  It’s sort of jangly, but it’s also got this mysterious coat of fog that drifts atop of it.  You can hear the whole new record from these Texans by visiting their BANDCAMP page, so get there fast.  That album is called Some Easy Magic, and it will be in your record store next Tuesday thanks to the good folks over at Hozac Records. Also, if you dig the song below, P4k ran a sweet video for it HERE.

Show Preview: Hunx and His Punx @ Emos (4/12)

Date Tuesday, April 12th
Location Emos
Doors 900p
Tickets $8 from TicketWeb

Alright, so I know there is an incredible show going on outside at Emos on the same night featuring the Raveonettes, but the best place for you to be is indoors with Hunx and His Punx.  Hunx just released his latest album, Too Young To Be In Love, which is just chock full of great songs, all reminiscent of early American pop, just with a hint of grime and grit to it.  It’s definitely a show where you can get down, dirty and drunk, not to mention enjoying the whole ordeal.  Also, you’ll get to see some other solid acts, such as Shannon and the Clams and Fungi Girls, both who offer their own blend of refurbished Americana. Whether you have plans or not, $8 is a worthy price for such a great line-up.
