With a bit of a slow week in the music scene in Austin, it’s a perfect time to get your butt out there and check out some of that local music you’ve been meaning to see.  Thursday night is a great option for such endeavors with a headlining show at The Ghost Room by Shapes Have Fangs.  Joining the band on stage are fellow up and coming and hot locals Rayon Beach, The Daze, and Eets Feats.  Also in store is a photo booth by Birds Barbershop and a free drink for the first 100 people through the door provided courtesy of Waterloo Ice House.  Fellow sponsors and friends for the event are Republic of Austin, Knuckle Rumbler, and Red River Noise.  I highly doubt you’ve got anything better to do on a Thursday night.  Seriously.

One of my favorite and highly underrated local bands The Pons are headlining an all local show at The Ghost Room on Saturday night.  You’ll also get promising locals Stereo is a Lie and Red Falcon adding to the fun.  Chilling at a great venue like Ghost Room on Saturday night and checking out some great local music sounds like a plan to me.

The great Will Johnson is making another stop in town without his band Centro-matic at the Ghost Room on Thursday night.  Joining the highly under appreciated musician is Austin Collins.  Go check this out if you haven’t seen Will do some of his stuff solo.  It’s truly great.

One of my favorite up and coming Austin bands The Pons have a show lined up at The Ghost Room on Saturday night.  The local band will be joined by fellow promising local acts Stereo is a Lie, Wiretree, and Search For a Signal.  If you want to see the next big thing in the Austin scene, I suggest you make it out to this one.

ATH March Music Sampler

Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce for your listening pleasure the  new Austin Town Hall March music sampler.  This bad boy features 6 tracks from bands playing our showcase on Thursday the 18th, as well as 10 other bands we’re looking forward to seeing during the SXSW week.  That’s 16 in all for you kids that don’t do the math too good… You’ll see familiar ATH favorites like Surfer Blood, Besnard Lakes, and Crayon Fields alongside some of the lesser known acts like The Loom, The Crookes, and Holiday Shores.  I’ll stop blabbing and just direct you all to the new sampler page.  We’re pretty proud of this one so tell all your friends!  Also, don’t forget to get those RSVPs in for our sweet party at The Ghost Room.

Above The Radar Party @ Ghost Room

monahans 1.16 smWe’re happy to announce today a little party we’re helping put on next weekend at the up and coming music venue Ghost Room.  This little shindig is hosted by Above the Radar PR and Do512 along with support from yours truly and End of an Ear Records.  The lineup features 3 solid local bands going by the names of Monahans, Sad Accordions and Frank Smith.  To make the event even that much more special, we will all be there to celebrate the birth year of our dear friend Michael over at Sonic Itch.  Word on the street has it that he is old as dirt so expect him to turn to dust at the stroke of midnight.  Should be good times had by all.  We’ll make sure to plug this party again a few days before the January 16th date next week.  Show time?  9pm ladies.
