HOLY Shares Another Tune off Ryder LP

I don’t know what it is about HOLY, but I’ve really just been blown away by the stuff coming out for the Ryder album cycle. This latest single had this huge ebb and flow, pulling me in with the pop undertow before crushing me with this huge wash of pulsating pop rhythms. It just feels like this huge production; it feels like this should be the score to some important moment in your life. In fact, it probably is, as you’re going to find very few artists crafting the same sweeping pop nuggets in the world. Ryder is out February 28th vai PNKSLM.

Holy Share Another New Track

Sometimes I feel like I’m a one-man Holy hype machine, but I definitely don’t care. This fresh single from the forthcoming LP is so stunning; I can’t quit playing it. I rush back each time to figure out why it is that I love it, only to find that I can’t pigeonhole or identify much, other than I’m just really taken by the song. It’s so open and intimate at the beginning; it’s almost like an artists baring their soul (as it should be), then it slinks into this electronic-laden dreamy pop number. There’s no words here, just go listen. Ryder is out on February 28th via PNKSLM.

HOLY Shares The Ryder

The last HOLY LP was this otherworldly psychedelic adventure; it was all these interesting sonic collages melded into one unique sound. But, the more we’ve heard from the forthcoming Ryder LP, it seems like this is the same structure, only spun in a more unique pop fashion. This tune has this glimmering sheen to it, slowed down to an almost careful lounge croon; the keyboard notes are merely a light pulse, bobbing on the surface of the track. It’s such a subtly textured pop song that it sort of blankets you in this natural warmth, which I don’t mind at all; think Jonathan Bree, but mellow. This new LP will be out on Febuary 28th via PNKSLM.

HOLY Shares Another Track

A few new HOLY tunes have leaked out from the forthcoming LP, but this is the first one that really feels like Hannes Ferm is moving in a different direction…though not one I’m opposed to by any means. Here, the intense psychedelia has been replaced by these synthetic beats and these broad touches; it sounds like a modern take on the Top Gun soundtrack, filled with thick drums and dense melodic production. There’s definitely a turn that might have been hinted at with the last single that featured label mate BOYS. Why to start the week out with a huge pop song?!

Holy Shares New Single ft Boys

I’ve already thrown my support behind the new material from Holy, but now he’s called label mate Boys to add depth to his songwriting. For me, it’s a pretty brilliant pop tune, building these layers, much as was done on the most recent LP. This time, there’s a nice little textural balance that really encourages this sort of exultation, a sort of emphatic embrace of blossoming pop music. It calls to mind work by the likes of Radio Dept, though this has a fresher pop sensibility, sort of stripped of the dense claustrophobia. Apparently there’s a new LP on the works courtesy of PNKSLM coming at us in early 2020.

HOLY Returns with Hot on the Heels of Love

Back in 2018, HOLY released All These Worlds Are Yours; it was this kaleidoscope of pop that seemed about as near as perfect as one was like to find. Now, the project is back with a brand new single, one that hopefully leads into an album at some point. This go round, it’s less an amalgam of pop influences, and more just straight pop songwriting, almost an homage to lounge singers. It most recently seems like something Jonathan Bree might offer up, being melodic and charming while also demonstrating a slight flare for fantastic. Hannes Ferm’s artistic touch is always stunning in my opinion, so fingers crossed for more real soon.

Something Special from HOLY

The new single from Sweden’s HOLY seems intent on frightening you, elevating a slight bit of noise from the get-go. But, if you endure, you’ll be rewarded with the beautifully revelation of the balladry draped atop a piano backbone. Eventually, electronics and drums enter the picture, continuing the song’s natural build; it’s like building a beautiful tower of pop, one floor at a time. There’s a brief interlude in the midsection, which gives way for a slightly grittier vocal performance that eventually meets up with the more polite voice from the song’s early minutes. Seriously stunned by how beautiful this is; look for All These Worlds Are Yours on January 26th via PNKSLM Recordings.

HOLY Announces All These Words Are Yours

Epic pop songs just don’t seem to be in fashion anymore, which I find a shame. Luckily, HOLY doesn’t seem to care about modern fads, as demonstrated by the lead single from the forthcoming album, All These Words Are Yours. In the opening ten seconds, a staggering bit of piano/synth has you searching for your balance; it’s slowly steadied by a loud guitar ring, accompanying strings and the voice of Hannes Ferm. Its 45 seconds of calming pop, all before the song erupts into this heavenly mid section that’s faintly reminiscent of J Spaceman’s work. Then moving along, just after the 3 minute mark, you’ll encounter a slight respite, almost an angelic chorale, but while important in the grand scheme of things, it’s brief. All of it is made more interesting when you find out Hannes played every note within the new LP. If you like to celebrate grandiose pop music, then consider picking up the record on January 26th via PNKSLM.
