Poppy Rocker from Johnny Kills

I got in early on Johnny Kills, and I’ve been keeping a close eye on the band as they’ve kept dropping singles left and right. Their latest is this huge wall of pop rock; it’s got one foot in arena rock and one foot in the tradition of that early 00s emo sound. Having been there, I can definitely feel the nostalgia; it’s all about throwing out songs with singalong moments, and slight inflections, like the vocal yip here, that make your band sound different. Figured it’d be a fun way to kick off your Wednesday! This tune appears on the bands Panic EP, out November 20th via Killing Moon.

Johnny Kills Drop Another Single

For young acts, it’s really important to work your tail off; it’s hard to break through that door. Luckily the lads in Johnny Kills are truly dedicated, with a run of several singles over the last few months as they build their brand. Today they add another, and it’s a prime example of the group’s knack for creating a little bit of crunchy guitar rock, dipped in sugary hooks. There’s even some elements, whether intentional or not, that definitely harken to that old brand of Brit pop. Can they keep the pace up with this hitting making machine? Let’s hope so!

A New One from Johnny Kills

We love a good guitar pop jam, and we enjoy it even more when it comes from an act we adore, like Johnny Kills. They just dropped this new single, opening with a clean guitar line and vocals, right before the distortion bursts through your speakers. They ride that distorted guitar out ’til the song’s end, but what I really enjoy is the frivolity that is clearly audible in the playful vocal shouts that jump through. I’ll never turn away from a song with energy and a carefree vibe, so enjoy it as you head into the weekend.

Fun Rocker from Johnny Kills

Johnny Kills hit my radar awhile ago, and they reached out over the weekend to point me towards a brand new single they release today. The band have a knack for kicking out scuzzy guitar pop, filled with equal parts distortion and hooks. I mean, just listen to the “la la la la la” of the chorus and tell me these guys don’t know how to grab your ears! They’re hard at work trying to get a full length wrapped up, but be sure to check their progress and have a little fun while you’re at it.

Speedy Rocker from Johnny Kills (Premiere)

Johnny Kills 2Johnny Kills is an up-and-coming UK act that recently caught my attention with their rad new single. It’s an energetic burst of quick punk delivery, coming in at just under two minutes. The vocals are delivered almost as rapidly as the music, keeping the punishing pace right from the start; it definitely feels like the sort of tune that would incite an audience to circle the pit (but do it safe ya’ll). And, as if that wasn’t enough, the band tosses in a couple of synth stabs too, just in case you thought they were going to be a run-of-the-mill band. Turn it up, play it loud, then play it again.
