Contest! Win a Pair of Tickets to See Crocodiles @ Empire Room (10.31)

CrocodilesSo you’re not really the Halloween sort, or maybe you are.  What we do know is that you need to enjoy rock n’ roll in some manner, otherwise it wouldn’t the crazy night we all expect! We’ve got a deal for you; you can win a pair of tickets to see Crocodiles at Empire Room…FREE.  The band comes in town to support their recent Crimes of Passion LP, and they’ll be joined by Royal Bangs and local act Growl.  It seems perfect if you’re looking for last minute plans to come together.  All you have to do is leave a comment telling us what you’ll be for Halloween, or what you hope people don’t wear as a costume.  Either way, you have the best idea, you have a free pair of tickets.  If you want to go the traditional way, you can grab tickets from Knuckle Rumbler, who’s helping us with this contest (thanks Aaron).

Ladies and gents, we here at ATH are huge music fans of course, but we’re also huge soccer fans as well.  That being said, we’ve joined forces with amigos Knuckle Rumbler and Do512 to put on a little watching party Saturday at The ND (formerly the Independent).  Here’s what KR has to say about the event:

USA! USA!  Got World Cup fever and don’t want to have to scramble for the one good seat up close to the TV at the sports bar?  Don’t want to go to the sports bar, period?  Come get down with us at ND and enjoy 100% All-American World Cup action on our 30′ HD projection screen with surround sound so real you’ll want to fake an injury, grab your shin, and roll on the ground.  Comfy theater-style seating on the floor level, plus a balcony view.  Did we mention the screen was big?  Really, really big.  Big like America, people.  Look for America-themed drink specials at the bar, plus Austin Town Hall will be kicking a soundtrack featuring kickass American music about, well, America.

Our good friends Knuckle Rumbler are throwing down on a party tonight at Beauty Bar called Adi Fest.  Who is this Adi person you say?  Well he’s one of the most widely known music journalists in town currently working for the Austinist.  As always with a KR event, expect great things like an Alison Narro photo booth, DJ Prince Klassen spinning in bewteen sets, and of course the complimentary beverages that start at 8pm and end when the free booze is gone.  Music for the night is all tribute bands and includes Stonefree Experience (Jimi Hendrix), Cheap Sunglasses (ZZ Top), and Magnifico (Queen).  This is definitely the place to be on Friday night.  RSVP at Do512 for $5 entry.
