Many people were over at La Zona Rosa last night grooving to Edward Sharpe, and I get the attraction–there are some good tunes there. But, for me, it came down to choosing the guy from the Unicorns, not the guy from IMA ROBOT (Edward). On top of that, I have to admit that its hard to dislike anything Islands do. Night before last, our photo lady Mary Rehak made it out for the highly anticipated show by MGMT at Stubbs. While she was really looking forward to the set, I wouldn’t really say she was too pleased with the outcome. Sometimes the hype just doesn’t deliver too well live I guess. Follow the jump for Mary’s take on the show and some of her fancy photos.
For those who had recently been following the rise of The Big Pink, Thursday night’s show at The Parish was much anticipated. As fans of the band’s A Brief History of Love, we were determined to witness the show in order to make a definitive statement on just how much we love the band. Opening for the evening was A Place to Bury Strangers, who initially seemed like an odd pairing. Follow the jump for full review.
We promised you some real professional pictures from SXSW week, and that’s just what you’ll get today from ATH photo lady Mary Rehak. Mary is well known for running around like a crazy person during the week and seeing as many bands as she possibly can. Hell, based on her fancy photos, she may have seen more bands than the ATH crew members combined! We’re proud to have such a hard working and creative person on the team. Follow the jump to re-live the SXSW week through the eyes of a pro photographer.
On Thursday night one of our very talented photographers, Mary Rehak, made her way out to the Mohawk to take some fancy photos of dance hit makers Friendly Fires & The XX. We hear that good times were had by all so we hope you enjoy the photo recap of the night. Follow the jump for full picture set.
We were blessed to have 2 photographers at ACL willing to share their moments with us, so today we’re bringing you our second set of ACL photo goodness. Mary Rehak was there all weekend trudging through mud like the rest of us, and we’ve picked out some of our favorite shots. Still not enough? Check out her Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 photo sets on Flickr.
