Last Week’s Jams, Today (10.3 – 10.7)

Lots of coverage running around last week, and with ACL in town, there was some coverage of shows and what not. We ended the week throwing up some streams of our favorite LPs that dropped too. But, ultimately, you came here for the tunes, and we had lots of them. Personally, I loved new stuff from I Was a King, Heather Trost and Field School, not to mention the little twist in expectations thrown in by the latest from Smashing Times. RayRay loved some rockers from S.C.A.B and Fluung, and they’ve all been conveniently added for your listening pleasure below. Browse, and head back and see what we had to say if you’re so inclined.

Bright New Single From Mazey Haze

Dutch artist Nadine Appledoorn came on my radar a year ago with her new musical project Mazey Haze and her tunes have been hitting my frequent streams on the regular. Today I am beyond happy to share with you her latest new tune entitled “The Weight of the Weekend”. When one gets the label “indie pop” sometimes it can be a convoluted and vague genre description, but for me, this is truly a perfectly done indie pop tune. It’s light while maintaining a level of brightness and drops in short moments of upbeat, rock sounds to keep this thing engaging and mesmerizing for its short 3.5 minutes. Stay tuned.

Bright New Single From Mazey Haze

Amsterdam based artist Nadine Appledoorn records and makes music under the creative moniker Mazey Haze. She has burst onto the scene this year with the announcement of a debut EP called Always Dancing coming on October 22nd which will feature this stunning new song “Headspin”. Appledoorn combine so many elements of bands I love like Alvvays, Camera Obscura, etc. but also adds in this sort of pop star vibe to give the tune her own, unique spin. I think you’ll be hearing a lot more from Mazey Haze in the future.
