From the ashes of Hockey Night comes the straight-nostalgic rockers Free Energy. Word on the street is that the man behind the production of the groups self-titled 7″ is none other than James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. You’ll find all sorts of reference points on this album from the days of old, but probably not the ones you would expect. Try this one on for size.

The Clientele have been around for a long time, crafting serene pop songs for those inclined to have their moods altered, and by that, I mean that they are moving. Sadly, their latest effort, Bonfires of the Heath, is said to be their last one. But, luckily, months in advance of the October 6th street date on Merge Records, we have a track to sample from the album. Should be a dandy.

These United States have a new record coming our way on September 1st via United Interests. Said album is titled Everything Touches Everything, and we’ve got a tune for you to preview while you salivate the arrival of this album. This track is titled “I Want You to Keep Everything,” and I’ve been spinning it all afternoon long. Buen proveche.

Sondre Lerche has been at it a long time, and he never really misses his mark when he goes into the studio. He’s got a new album titled Heartbeat Radio coming out this September, and we’re sure you will all love it. We’ve got the title track right here for you to sample. And as always, it’s really about the wonderful vocals of Sondre, which continue to warm us over.

J Tillman has most recently gotten a lot of notice for his participation as part of the current Fleet Foxes line-up, but this gent has a wonderful set of tunes in his closet as well. He’s set to release a new album on September 22nd on Austin’s own Western Vinyl, and we have an unmastered peak at one of the album’s tracks. It’s hard to find anything at fault with such an understatedly beautiful song.
