Another Track from The Skygreen Leopards

skygreenListening to the newest single from The Skygreen Leopards, it’s no surprise that the album had some studio work applied by Jason Quever of Papercuts fame.  It’s got that rich feeling you get with most of the music Jason’s worked on, including his own, which provides this whispering warmth that allows the listener to attach themselves to the songs internal melody.  This song has a nice steady pace, worked around the connection between the guitar lines and the piano pieces.  You’ll be able to check more from the group when they release Family Crimes on July 8th via Woodsist.

Have Fun with Paper Lions

paperlionsIt’s one thing to write an artistic statement, it’s another thing entirely to just sit down and write a great pop song.  Personally, I think the latter is probably much more difficult, making the latest single from Paper Lions even more remarkable.  There’s a driving pulse to the song, aided by the rhythm section and electronics, with the lyrics bursting through the pop sensibility.  It’s hard to not just twist and turn with this tune blasting on high; it’s just a gem of a pop track.  The band will release their new album, My Friends, on August 20th via Fountain Pop Records.

Pop Rockin’ with Paper Lions

paperlionsWhen you first press play on the new track from Paper Lions, harmonies will inch along, precisely as they should in the best pop songs.  It doesn’t last long, however, as the guitars speed in and up the ante on the tune’s approach; it will continue to flirt with both aspects, always maintaining the infectious melody that makes the track so successful.  For those of you that find yourselves interested in this tune, and you should be, it will be on the band’s upcoming record, My Friends, which will come out on August 20th via the band’s own imprint, Fountain Pop Records.

New (ish) Jam from Atlas

It’s always exciting when you stumble across something that you hadn’t heard, instantly recognizing it as something you’ll enjoy for a long time.  Such was the case tonight when I came across this track from Atlas, a group who has just released a split with My Friends.  Their opening track on their half of the record is a sprawling little jam, but while it gently enters, the increased pace and introduction of the vocals grabbed me.  There’s a great bit going on in the entirety of this track, but I keep coming back to the great melody that’s created by the guitar from beginning to end.  Give this one a try.
