More From Monteagle

Our amigo Justin Giles Wilcox grew to some moderate fame with his incomparable work in bands Nassau and Moonlight Bride. Having spent some years with those projects, Wilcox is stepping out again with his new project called Monteagle. We’ve previously heard his single “East L.A.” leaving us wanting more, and low and behold, here’s another new song today to build our anticipation of the new album. This one, “Master” features that cool, calm, and collected sound from Wilcox which creates a beautiful, soulful indie folk track.

Monteagle will release new album Midnight Moon on November 30th via Fire Talk Records.

Loving This New Macseal Track

Well well well, what do we have here? A band with a throw back, sort of post-emo sound? RayRay is of course going to be all over that. Bringing us that sweet throw back sound today is Long Island based group Masceal with their latest single “Sure Thing, Shelly”. I am immediately taken back to the glory days of music with bands like American Football or even The Promise Ring. This is a truly great song.

Masceal will release new EP Map it Out on November 9th via 6131 Records.

Yet Another Single From Hypoluxo

Since we’ve already posted two singles from the upcoming Hypoluxo album, I figured we would be missing out if we didn’t also post the third and final single. I’m not sure what else we can say about this band that can’t be said with a quick listen to this new joint “Trust Fall”. The band is dreamy and sort of new wave with deep vocals which might just put you in a trance. These guys are making some remarkable music right now.

Hypoluxo will release Running on a Fence on September 21st via Broken Circles.

Let’s Do One More From Jack Drag

Lot’s of quality albums will be hitting the streets this month, one of which is the new joint from John Dragonetti and his project known as Jack Drag. Having heard the record in full as the really cool blogger I am, I can tell you that it is hot, on fire, and full of hit after hit. It seriously might be one of my favorite pop albums to come out in a long long time. Keep in mind we don’t listen to lot of traditional pop like Beyonce or Carly Rae so it’s going to be a little bit left of center, just like us. If my words aren’t enough for you to trust his new work, check out his third single from the release below and tell me you aren’t excited. You will need to own this.

Drag will release 2018 on September 14th via Burger Records.

Have Another From Tim Cohen

Our dear amigo Tim Cohen has quickly established himself as someone who is in the “can do no wrong” category at this point in his musical career. Wether it be his work in Fresh & Onlys, or as a solo musician, the guy’s music is loved by the entire ATH staff. Currently working on a new solo album, we’ve already heard “Goodness” from the LP, and now he’s offered up another new single called “I’m a Girl”. I shall let the single speak for itself and just say that you should most definitely check out this album when it drops. Educate yourself.

Tim Cohen will release new album The Modern World on September 28th via Sinderlyn.

Song Premiere: Top Nachos

The weekend is near and it’s time we all take ourselves a little seriously and enjoy a carefree rock tune. If that sounds like something interesting to you, New Paltz, NY band Top Nachos will deliver with this jamming new song “Vegan Doughnuts”. If it isn’t abundantly clear by their band name, tend to not take themselves too seriously en route to some genius slacker style garage rock. More of this please.

Top Nachos will release a new album entitled Dank Side of the Moon on September 27th via King Pizza Records. (pre-order is up now)

We would also be remiss to not mention the upcoming release show in Brooklyn at Trans Pecos on September 27th. More info here.

Headbanger From Drug Church

It’s Thursday on another hot as hell day here in Austin and I think we need a solid, head-banging rock song in our lives. You’re all in luck, as this new track called “Avoidarama” from Albany based Drug Church is sure to fulfill all your rock n roll fantasies. It’s sort of like if a 90s alternative band had a bit more modern sound like earlier Cloud Nothings or QOTSA. Though the track is a bit on the hardcore/punk side, it does still manage to have just a little bit of pop influence to keep everyone interested for repeated plays.

Drug Church will release Cheer on November 11th via Pure Noise Records.

Check Out This Jane Church Track

My friends who run Greenway Records have really been killing it over the last year or so with a slew of great albums and singles. The label is continuing their solid release run with a new single and 7″ from Queens based artist Jane Church. This track, “Rocket to the Kremlin”, is a driving rock song with swirling guitars and a quirky, almost Lou Reed style delivery on the vocals. If you aren’t, you should really be paying attention to this label and their artists.

This track appears on a new 7″ out in June via Greenway Records with a full length coming in the fall.

New 7″ from Soccer Cousins

Our friends at Gentle Reminder Records are working hard this year; they’ve got another release added to the calendar this weekend, from Soccer Cousins. It’s spirited pop rock, and in fact, it kind of reminds me of a more casual version of the Thermals. Hooks are abundant, and the voice is definitely distinct. I go back and forth between loving “Holy Smokes” and “Small,” so maybe you can help me out and pick your favorite of the two. This 7″ will pop up on Friday, May 25th, on some super fancy green vinyl; better hurry, as there’s a limited number out there.

New Rocker From Stimmerman

We’re done talking about how much we’re struggling after last week and it’s time to start rocking again! Getting you back in the rock mood is this banger called “Tough Talk” from Brooklyn based Stimmerman. The group, artistically run by Eva Lawitts, features some loud and rocking guitars with some very impressive key and speed changes. It’s sort of like some old school Cursive if fronted by a female lead singer. Nicely done Eva.

This track will appear on an EP entitled Pleasant Vistas in a Somber Place due out this April.
