New Electronic Doom from Odonis Odonis

Sometimes when you strip down to the most minimal bits of your work, you come out with the best product. This might just be the case for Odonis Odonis, who are reported to have stripped down the instrumentation on their latest effort to synthesizers and electronic drums. I love how these guys make music that sounds like impending doom, but almost makes you beg for it; it sounds beautiful. There’s a moment on the latter half of the tune where they build the tension with tons of negative space, only to drop the vocals and beat back in one more time. Felte will be releasing the No Pop on October 20th.

More From Odonis Odonis

odonisodonisMan Odonis Odonis has picked up some heavy coverage on ATH over the years and I consider most of our writers and contributors as fans. With that said, this new track from the band features a bit of a different direction than what we’ve grown accustomed to. Sure the heavy sound is still apparent, but damn if the guys haven’t added in some crazy electronic elements similar to a band like Cold Cave or even NIN. Paired with their old flare for heavy rockers, this new electronic element is creating something truly powerful and downright badass. I’m on board for more of this.

New album Post Plague will hit stores on June 17th via Felte Records.

New Music from Odonis Odonis

odonisodonisThis new piece from Odonis Odonis is something to wrap your ears around, if you can. Opening with a pulsating groove, it pushes forward to meet the vocal entrance, breathy and cold. Eruptions of noise blast in and out of the song, maximized by that pulsating rhythm crashing into machine gun drum samples. It’s almost like a progressive bit of glitch-pop, with a more sinister tone…even down to the lyrical warning that’s present. Their new album, Post Plague, will be released on June 17th via Felte.

Show Review: Odonis Odonis @ Mohawk (4.21)

Odonis OdonisI know, I know. Everyone was at the National on night one! But, I’ve seen them, and I was going on Tuesday, so I penciled in a show that I was really excited about.  I’ve been raving about Odonis Odonis since their last EP, and their new record, Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, has been on constant rotation.  While the crowd might not have been what I hoped, the show definitely lived up to my expectations. There’s a ton of heavy-hitting shows in town this week, from Vampy Weeks to Mogwai…and beyond.  But, you should start your Monday night with something particularly special, something loud; you should get your week going by hitting up the Odonis Odonis show at Mohawk tonight!  We’ve mentioned the band on numerous occasions, but now that we’ve had ample time to have our ears destroyed (willingly) by the group’s new album, Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, I’m adamant that this show is something you can’t miss.  But, I warn you, your going to need to get your ears checked afterwards, just to make sure they’re still working right.  They’ll be joined by Shockwave Riderz and Super Thief, so be sure to schedule in some time for this can’t miss evening of tunes.

Noisy Noise Rocker from Odonis Odonis

odonisThe last few months we’ve tried to illustrate the musical growth of Odonis Odonis, a band who’ve grown since their inception.  But, let’s not pretend like we didn’t love the noise that the band brought forth from the get-go.  The song is in your face from the moment you press play, filled with discordant sounds and screeching vocals that require adequate earplugs.  They’re only a few short weeks away from the release of their newest LP, Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, which is out on April 15th via Buzz Records. You can check out a video of the track HERE.

More Jams from Odonis Odonis

odonisOf all the bands crafting noise-pop music at the moment, perhaps none have my heart more than Odonis Odonis.  The Canadian act are preparing for the release of Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, and this new song is just another reason that I’m backing the band to grab a huge following in 2014.  I love the way the guitars screech through the speakers, while a slight bit of pop sensibility gurgles beneath the noisy wash the group has created.  They’ve also created a nifty little video for the tune, which you can check out by jumping HERE. You can hear the whole record on April 15th via Buzz Records.

SXSW 2014 Interview: Odonis Odonis

OO_HBSB_PROMO_3_blood_HI_REZA lot of bands have a lot of time under their belts, but some bands are just starting to really make a big name for themselves. Odonis Odonis is one such band who’ve been picking up steam over the last couple of years; they are making their way down to Austin to rock you like you’ve not been rocked before.  It’s all going to continue to build up the eager anticipation to their forthcoming record Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, which comes out on April 15th.  Here’s what Dean Tzenos  had to say as the band heads our way.

Fuzzed Out Rocker from Odonis Odonis

odonisWarning. You’re going to want to turn down your speakers before you press play on this track.  There’s grinding guitar that bashes you over the ears, while the lyrics, though distant in the mix, maintain an atmosphere of coldness that goes in line with the modus operandi of Odonis Odonis.  This tune will be featured on the group’s up-coming LP, Hard Boiled Soft Boiled, which is said to express some diversity in the band’s songwriting.  Whatever it is, it’ll undoubtedly be loud.  You can grab it on April 15th via Buzz Records, and make sure to check out the video that accompanies this song HERE.
