Blistering Number from Peach Kelli Pop

Hot on the heels of their recent EP, Peach Kelli Pop is about set to drop their new LP for Mint Records. Today’s new single illustrates the perfect balance between the saccharine stylings and the band’s frenetic punk rock. If you were to stick solely with the vocals, it sounds like the perfect sunny day, but then distorted guitars and pummeling pace blast you through the track in under 2 minutes. It’s like riding a bike on some beachside boardwalk, only you got shit to do so you’re rushing down the path. Look for Gentle Leader to drop on May 25th.

More New Peach Kelli Pop

Peach Kelli Pop don’t seem to be slowing down a bit; the band are already prepping their new RSD EP, and now they come with the announcement of a brand new full-length LP. It’s a catchy number, all the way into the chorus, but what’s most enjoyable to my ears are the guitar sounds. To me, it sounds like the ladies are stepping into Marked Men territory, only infusing it with a little bit more sunshine and pop sensibility; you know I don’t mind that at all. The group will release Gentle Leader on May 25th via Mint Records, and they’ve also got a June date here in Austin with our own Mean Jolene.

Get On This New Peach Kelli Pop

It’s time for this dreary Winter to fade away, and what better way to jump towards Spring than with a great jam. This new single from Peach Kelli Pop seems pretty fitting; it’s brief and energetic, although the lyrical content seems to have a more dire vibe. But, lets hope that the song serves as a perfect catharsis, as no one brings in the sunny pop like this group. They’ve just signed with Mint Records for the delightful new Which Witch EP…hitting stores on RSD everywhere.

Tonight’s Shows: Peach Kelli Pop or Roaring Sun

austiniloveyouIt’s one of my favorite seasons for music. Bands are traveling, shows are popping up, and nary a night passes without something great going on in Austin. Tonight, you’ve got two great choices: Peach Kelli Pop at Sidewinder or Roaring Sun at Barracuda. PKP brandishes surfy guitar-pop, and they’ll be joined by perennial local faves, Sailor Poon. Speaking of the Sailor Poon, they just released a video for their track on the Slack Capital Comp…find it HERE. On the other hand, you’ve got young psych-pop upstarts, Roaring Sun. While I may be biased, having taught one of their members years ago, I’m excited by what they’re crafting. They’ll be joined by Taiga, as well as Honey and Salt. So you can catch a traveling act, or something wholly Austin. Hear tracks from both suggestions below.

Peach Kelli Pop Give You Gritty Lo-Fi

peachkelliPeach Kelli Pop out of LA are band of five ladies that are killing the lo-fi punk game. They’ve got a 7″ that’s due out on April 29th and have released the lead single and title track, called “Halloween Mask.” This song is the grumbling and fuzzy number that you’ve been waiting to hear all day, and its straightforward, uncompromising sound will have you jamming right along with them. I’m liking the way that the vocals are sugary, complimenting those distorted guitars and the rumbling percussion. The whole song is nice balanced, and builds to the end with some white hot guitars that will make you press play again the second that it’s over.

Playful Surf from Peach Kelli Pop

pkpFriday’s should be all about fun, especially when, like me, you’re about to go on a nice little Spring Break.  So, with that in mind, why not prep for it with some great feel-good tunes, like the latest single from Peach Kelli Pop. It’s playful through and through, which has always been the vibe from the act, in my mind anyways.  You get a little bit of surf, little garage and a helluva good time.  I expect nothing less from the forthcoming album from the band, III; it’s getting a Burger Records release on April 21st.
