Having seen Modest Mouse on several occasions, and in various settings, I headed off to Stubbs this past Tuesday a little skeptical of what I’d see. Before I get onto that, let’s skip ahead to talk about opener Talkdemonic.
This last Monday was a busy night at ATH, but personally, the highlight of my day was always going to be the viewing of Terry Malts and Wax Idols. Here are a few words on the show, and some excellent pictures too!

The last time I caught the Drums, I was a bit skeptical about their live show. While entertaining, there were some discrepancies in the live sound, so I wasn’t sure of what I would catch at The Parish on Sunday night. For the most part, I left feeling moderately surprised.

Admittedly, I’ve always been fascinated by the bands that joined up to exhilerate the crowds on this past Monday night, but I can’t say it’s the kind of music I listen to continuously. However, this show at the Mohawk probably changed that for good.
The Parish hosted the Horrors last Wednesday night. It was a lovely way to break the ACL hangover. It takes a few days to get over the festival mentality. You have a craving for tall, expensive cans of beer. You constantly check a schedule. You complain about cell service.
What better way to break the cycle than go see a band in a dark, smallish club atmosphere with expensive bottles of beer? Here are pics and few impressions from The Horrors set at The Parish, The Stepkids opened.
As the heat beats down upon us, it’s always nice to find yourself enthralled in a decent evening of carousing with the locals, especially if said shenanigans include a night filled with incredible musical accompaniment. I’m pretty sure that’s what all of us got over at Emos on Tuesday night, with Antlers and Little Scream giving us just what we needed.
Mogwai have been making a name for themselve for years, brandishing noisy post-rock in the live setting, pushing your eardrums to their limit. They returned to Austin on a breezy Monday night, bringing their fellow Scots, Errors, along for the ride. Read more
What’s that you say? How can this be? We have even MORE photos from our new photographer Brian Gray from SXSW week? Thats right kids, this guy took a ton of photos all week long and we wanted to share with you just a few more before calling it good. I mean we really couldn’t resist at least sharing a few photos of Murray Lightburn going crazy on the unknowing crowd in front of him. Here’s to a job well done Mr. Gray.
