Smooth Pop from Hamjam

I’m really surprised there’s not more of a hubbub concerning Hamjam, considering it features members of both Pond and Methyl Ethyl. Regardless, the act is crafting this sleek synth pop, filled with little burst of soaring vocals and infectious hooks. You want this tune playing as you slip into your nighttime groove; it’s definitely has vibes that guarantee a good time. And, if you’re into it, you can grab a/s/l? from Bedroom Suck Records. You can stream the whole LP HERE.

Have You Met Hamjam

Members of two of my favorites, Methyl Ethyl and Pond have formed to create Hamjam, and the sounds they’ve crafted together are quite delightful. They’ve got that subdued pop vibe, casual in its delivery, infectious in every way. There’s a nice little tone switch for the chorus, aided by accenting piano and saxophone; these are smooth jams for pop fans with refined tastes. The band will be releasing their debut A/S/L? on August 11th via Bedroom Suck Records, adding to an already strong stable of Aussie acts!

Get Psychedelic With POND

1921130_10154653680885545_5771350610837661683_o

A few months back, we brought you a new track from Australia’s POND. but now that we’re closer to the January 23rd release of Man It Feels Like Space Again the band has released another single for our enjoyment. “Zond” below is whacked out, and I mean that in the best possible way: the whole thing feels like it’s been put through one of those space tunnels that make you think you’re spinning. It’s got these buzzy guitars and super reverb coated vocals that are out of this world, giving you the psychedelic rock track that you love and you know an alien would also probably get down to. This makes me quite excited to have a listen to the whole album, which sounds like it’s going to be brimming with more rad and funky tunes.

New Offering from Pond

pondageThis song from Australia’s Pond opened up really slowly, and I was worried I wouldn’t sink my teeth into it, having been a fan of the group’s early work.  But, just after the 1 minute mark they turn up the guitars and get into a real swing, steering more in the direction of what I see as an ode to Brit pop, though the psychedelic elements are still faintly present in the song.  It’s one of those tracks that you can wrap your head around once you spend some time with it.  You’ll have plenty of time when they unleash Man It Feels Like Space Again, which is on its way soon.

Check Out Pond (w/ members of Tame Impala)

pond620I know everyone out there is all about the hype associated with Tame Impala, and it’s much deserved, for the most part.  What I like is the brother band, Pond, who seem a bit more experimental sonically, shooting all over the place musically.  I guess it’s sort of the same landscape where Tame began, shifting between genres left and right, often in the middle of a track.  We’ve really been digging this tune over at ATH, and if you’re into it, you can find their new album Hobo Rocket at your record store this Spring via the folks over at Modular.  All good thigns come to those who wait, and this will surely be a good thing.
