Central Heat Exchange Share Debut Single

We’ve been hearing rumors of Central Heat Exchange, primarily through out distant connection with Santi of Daphne Tunes/Growl, who is actually in the band; we also knew it was a supergroup of sorts, featuring various members from Varsity, Pool Holograph and Living Hour, not to mention their friends and cohorts. Today, we finally get the joy of the first single, with an announcement they’ve signed with Birthday Cake/Citrus City/Sunroom for their debut LP. Being a fan of all the members, I had high hopes, but they’ve really knocked it out of the park here. The vocals feel like a cool crisp bike ride through hilly territory, cruising lightly, wind at your back. And, while I like the soft jangle approach, there’s these little peaks and valleys in the musical melody that really works its way under your skin. I think my favorite ten seconds comes between 2:20 and 2:30, so be sure to tune in all the way to the end. We’ll keep you posted when we get more news about the LP!

Pool Holograph Share Mirror World

Chicago outfit Pool Holograph are just a few weeks away from the release of their new LP, Love Touched Time and Time Began to Sweat. I really love the thoughtfulness of this new single, illustrating the band know exactly when to kind of pull back on the reins a little. Every little note seems like its perfectly stitched into this subtle pop quilt that shimmers on the surface, allowing Wyatt to add his breathy vocals and coat the tune in this heavy melodic blanket. Already a huge fan of the band, every step they’re making on this new Lp seems supremely rewarding; it drops officially on October 2nd.

Pool Holograph Share Life by the Power Plant

In 2019 I threw a SXSW show together in 6 days, and dammit if I didn’t pull it off. One band I was really stoked to have grabbed was Pool Holograph; they played an incredible set that we raved about. Since then, they’ve had a few singles, but I’ve really been waiting for a new full-length to drop…and that news is out there now with Love Touched Time and Time Began to Sweat announced for an October release. This new single has the slow burn I love from the band, utilizing these chopping angular guitars knifing through a haze of feedback to create this sort of unhinged anxiety. The vocals, while melodic, almost feel pained, aching to find a home in your ears. Dig it you will; the record drops on October 2nd.

Get Into This New Pool Holograph

Last November, we got a new single from Pool Holograph, and it looks like now we’ll be getting another new tune via a new split with Courtesy. At first, the song runs its first thirty seconds like modern guitar pop; the chords are bright and sharp, with breathy vocals crawling atop. But, it’s their turn towards discord that gives the song a grittier punch; the song has this internal stomp as the band crashes and thrashes about just after the 2 minute mark. It’s both strikingly beautiful and brooding, with the perfect mix of pop sensibility. Impressive work yet again; Land and Sea Dept will release the split in June!

Brand New Single from Pool Holograph

Chicago’s Pool Holograph are preparing for the release of their second LP, Transparent World, and this single should put you on notice that it’s worthy of your listening attention. Interestingly, the band walk a fine line between artful rock and purveyors of pop; the vocals have the ability to come across like soft whispers or slight growls. All the while, the guitar chords ring brightly, shimmering ever so slightly in the distance of the mix…matched by stomping drum rhythms. If you’re looking for a song that’s going to get stuck on your listening rotation, this might just be the one! Look for the new LP to be released next Friday (10/13) via Jurassic Pop Records.

Summer Tune from Pool Holograph

PHpromo1Summer time is about letting loose and having fun.  Whether that’s hanging at the pool with your friends or sitting beach-side with your family, you’re supposed to relax and let everything go.  This tune from Pool Holograph is perfect for that sentiment; it’s filled with an exuberance that’s playful in every way, especially the way the cymbals are ridden throughout the track.  The vocals add a nice touch, bursting forth during the chorus into a delightful croon.  This is the first single off the group’s forthcoming album, Mortals, which should hit this Fall.
