Electro Pop From Nova Heart

srj4_NOVAHEARTcirclebyRenHangcopy_1I’m sure many of us are struggling on this Monday as we think about the three day weekend we have coming our way in just a few short days.  Though we may be struggling, we always have the music to brighten even the most somber of moods.  Today this tune called “We Are Golden” from Beijing based Nova Heart is a perfect one to improve a slow start to the week.  I dig the synth heavy bass lines and smoothness shining through during the entire length of the track.  Here’s to surviving the week.

You can pick up the new self-titled LP from Nova Heart on October 2nd via FakeMusicMedia.

ATX Spotlight: New Single From The Villas

3f6e6135-d24f-4d63-b579-c334ace310f2I’ve been talking about Austin based The Villas since what seems like our very beginnings oh so long ago.  With that said, you should definitely expect me to share new tunes from the band immediately after I receive them.  Such is the case today with this brand new single “Julie”.  It seems like a more grown up sounds from the band as they’ve gone a little bit more subdued and progressive with their take on the pop genre.  Yet another great song from one of our most promising local bands.

Stay tuned as we get more information about the band’s upcoming release.

Bright Pop From Table People

10945491_785662944822372_8709127713345475891_nTable People is a band from Seoul who make some very enticing and interesting pop music.  This tune below, “Ride With Me”, is a prime example of the brand of simple, yet still bright and fun type of sound the band creates.  Sort of like a Tokyo Police Club meets Los Campesinos! sound if you will…. I dig.

If you’re into it, you can buy their new album Ride With Me on bandcamp right now.

Nice To Meet You: Arbes

11182190_857958794284353_6505984048708003117_nArbes is a trio of youngsters making some interesting pop music out of Australia.  I know very little about the band at this point since they are so fresh on the scene, but I do know the music is speaking to me today.  Many will hear the enchanting female vocals on a song like “Beach Side” and immediately compare the band to the likes of Beach House.  Though it’s fair, the band also add in these tricky little guitar parts to give everything a more upbeat and groovy vibe.  Stay tuned for more from this young trio as they plan to release their debut EP on cassette this Friday via London’s Sports Day Records.

Interesting Pop From Ms. John Soda

Andreas Staebler_2I’ve always been a fan of slightly weird or different sorts of pop music and this new track from German duo Ms. John Soda is right up my alley.  It’s electronic in nature I suppose with elements of great boy/girl duo Beach House, but with a brighter and almost sunny feel.  Check out interestingly titled “Hero Whale” below and let us know what you think.

Pick up new album Loom on October 2nd via Morr Music.

Interesting Pop Tune From The Dig

I10615486_10152352010061222_760884989755851137_n‘ve followed NYC outfit The Dig for several years now and have always appreciated the band’s ability to ever evolve their sounds and styles.  Today I’m pleased to share with you even further evolution from the group with this impressive new pop track called “Fourth of July”.  Pardon the irony of the timing in the song title, hit play and imagine this as a great addition to your party playlist for the weekend.  It’s a little bit of psych rock mixed in with some really intriguing pieces of quirky pop music.  Stay tuned for more information about an upcoming full length release.
