Real Numbers Drop Darling Single

I’ve barely even gotten used to the idea that there will be a great new Real Numbers EP coming next year, and already there’s another jangle out there. Spritely angular guitar rifts thrust you onto the dancefloor, spinning you about with a buoyant rhythm section that has your arms flailing in the air. Those disaffected vocals give just the faint hint of wistfulness, though there’s just a hint of hope on the way the vocals bound through the song in the far off horizon. Please 2021, bring me tons more great indiepop just like this! If you’re a fan, Brighter Then will be out on January 22nd via Slumberland and Meritorio. Buy it for me for my birthday! (January 16th)!

Real Numbers Announce Brighter Then EP

It’s been quite some time since Real Numbers dropped the stellar Wordless Wonder LP (2016), so I’m really stoked that there’s a new EP on the way, and it comes with this sparkling bit of pop in the announcement. I say this, knowing full well I’ll be proven wrong, but the sort of pop they’re presenting here is definitely a lost art, mastered by only a few in the world as of late. It’s got that sharp guitar churn, hanging the melodic vocals out on the clothesline in the wind, letting them breeze right through until the song introduces a light little stomp to shake the pop right out of you. Honestly, might be one of the best indiepop tunes this year…no lie. Brighter Then EP is out in January via Slumberland Records/Meritorio Records.

Top 50 Albums of 2016

top50You’ve all been waiting, anxiously. Waiting for our arbitrary list of the opinion of four folks who run this site, and what we think were the best albums of 2016. It’s really really important. We’re going to make our site great again with this list. We’re going to win, bigly. But really, it’s just a list of the stuff we loved the most that we covered throughout this year on our site. The comment section is open, so feel free to tell us where we’ve gone wrong or what we’ve got right or anything else fitting. Read more

Stream Real Numbers New Album, Wordless Wonder

realnumsMore people should make music like this. Period. I mean, I’d probably adore anything from Slumberland Records, but you should be playing this Real Numbers album all day long. It’s got this exuberant undercurrent that runs through out, though there’s enough polish lacking to let you tell your friends how cool you are for discovering their favorite new band. We live in a world of singles, so it’s refreshing to bounce along to something for a good thirty minutes of your day (then bounce all over again). If you grew up jamming to punk rock, then decided it was way cool to fall in love with pop songs too, then you’re just going to play this all day long. Look for Wordless Wonder in stores this Friday!

Fresh Tune from Real Numbers

realfakeI’m not sure why you haven’t pre-ordered this new Real Numbers record yet? I tried to convince you with their first new single, but here’s another chance for you to realize how great pop music is these days. Ringing guitars, a bouncing step in the rhythm…and a sense of longing in the vocal delivery. Sure, you could add more reverb and some 40 second ambient solo, but pop music is best when it sticks to simplicity…and in this case its great. Slumberland Records is releasing Wordless Wonder on October 14th, and I reckon the best pop fans will be clamoring to get their hands on it, fighting over shelves like it’s Record Store Day…don’t be one of those folks, get it HERE now!

New Pop Music from Real Numbers

realnumsFridays are for feeling good, feeling like you’ve got something to look forward to as you head into the weekend. Of course Slumberland Records would help get us in the mood, right? They just upped this great track from Real Numbers who have this great affection for writing pop hits. Here you’ll hear the band working with discordant jangles as they have a heavy coated vocal crooning atop. The anthemic “do do doo” that closes the track out is a special touch, building anticipation for catching the band live. It has also built my anticipation for the band’s full length, Wordless Wonder, coming out on October 13th.
