September is shaping up to be quiet a crazy month for live music here in Austin. You have some tough choices to make clearly, but we think long time ATH favorite Dent May playing at Red 7 should definitely be on your agenda. Joining the talented musician on stage will be Dead Gaze and Austin bands Growl and Hola Beach.

Majical Cloudz burst on to the scene earlier this year with the release of their stellar album Impersonator. With all the positive buzz created from that release, I’d think that their show going down at Red 7 on Saturday night would be highly anticipated by music fans in town. To make this even more enticing, ATH favorites Moon King will also be on hand providing opening support. Nasty Nate did an interview with those guys that you should also check out. See ya there?

ATH favorite Daughn Gibson is stopping into town again at Red 7 on Thursday night and we think it’s something you should definitely check out. Daughn has caught some flack for his live performance (this site included), but we’re willing to continually give the guy a chance based on his unique and creative approach to music. Opening support for this one is provided by Austin’s own The Young. Let’s all pump our fists in the air.

We’ve follow Saint Motel for the last couple years here at ATH and we’re very excited to welcome the boys back into town on Friday night at Red 7. Joining the band on stage you’ll get Moonlight Gram and local openers Hear Holiday. Now it’s a busy Friday night in Austin so you’ve got tons of things to choose from, but make sure this show is on your list of options before you head out the door.

Twas a hot and sweaty night in Austin Texas on Saturday as we made our way over to Red 7 for a headlining show by Appleseed Cast. The bill was full of bands that reminded us all of better days when musicians actually played guitars and knew how to keep a beat. A great lineup indeed.

If you frequent this website, I really shouldn’t even have to begin telling you about my love affair with all things Appleseed Cast. Hell, I’ve likely seen the band more than any other in my history of attending live shows. Cool? With that said, you know I will be in attendance when the band headlines at Red 7 tomorrow and I’ll also likely be screaming along like a school girl to every word. The undercard of this bill is surely something you won’t want to miss either with The Life and Times, Muscle Worship, and Phantom Lakes all joining in on the fun. It’s never too late to get on this bandwagon. Be smart.

The last time I caught Prince Rama in town, I was mesmerized by their performance, so it goes without saying that you should take it upon yourself to catch such an incredible show. But, more importantly, there are a slew of local Austin acts kicking things off, such as Sleep Over and Technicolor Hearts. More importantly, we’ll all be treated to the debut of new Austin band, Silk Rodeo. A member of the live act has called the music “smooth wave” and promised lasers! You don’t want to miss that. You can catch a video of the band’s single, “All Yr Own” right HERE. Show up early, support the locals, and tip the bartenders; it’s going to be a special night from all the acts.

The Chaos continues this evening with what might be my most anticipated show of the festival. I am of course speaking of The Men playing over at Red 7 this evening. Having seen the band several times in the live setting, I can attest to the fact that they will bring the pain and make your ear drums bleed (in a good way). Let’s not forget that the undercard is also loaded with Destruction Unit, Lust For Youth, Pharmakon, Marshstepper, and Bodies of Light all in tow to offer up support.

It seems like a bit of a slow week for live music in Austin until the weekend so bigger name indie groups like Natural Child should be a must for music lovers. The show goes down on the inside stage of Red 7 and features a nice opener in the form of Birdcloud. Coming in at only $10, this seems like a no-brainer if you’re looking for something to do on a Tuesday night. Of course you know the rock will be brought and fun will be had by all.
