scottIt’s been several years since I’ve written anything about Scott Orr, but he’s just put out a new single as part of the Other Songs Music Club, and since I’ve always appreciated his voice (and his work), I can’t help but to put a little note on this out into the world. It begins with he typical fragility, featuring Orr and guitar, but he’s soon taking the track into loftier heights with minimal percussion and female vocal accompaniment. It’s a chilled out tune that hits straight in the heart. Listen below.

scottI spent all my time at Weekend/Disappears last night, so today seems like a day where I should just relax and listen to softer music…not that my ears hurt or anything.  This beauty from Scott Orr has been on my radar for a few weeks, so I figured I’d finally share it with you; it’s not fair to hold out the good tracks from you kind readers.  There’s something in his soft voice and the carefully worked accompaniment of his music that’s made this track an incredible part of my playlist as of late.  You’ll find this song on A Long Life, which comes out next week courtesy of Other Songs Music.

New (Free) Tunes from Scott Orr

This Canadian fellow has been doing the indie folk thing for some time now, but he wanted to strip it down a bit more.  Scott Orr has just released a free Acoustic EP, which has a few new tracks, and some old ones done in a super-stripped down manner.  One of the things I like the most about this new EP is that he vowed to just do it in his own style, with very few overdubs and retakes in the recording process.  Just giving it a listen lets you see that such an approach gives it an extremely personal quality, which never hurts anyone, now does it?  If you dig this, you can grab the EP HERE.
