New (ish) Jam from Dead Stars

deadstarsI was checking in on one of my favorite little labels, Uninhabitable Mansions, who released the excellent Still Flyin LP last year, and discovered they’ll be dropping a new EP from Brooklyn’s Dead Stars.  We’re predicting that this tune will feature on the High Gain EP, as it was just recorded this year; you can grab the EP on June 4th from the label that is home to Radical Dads.  If you listen, you’ll definitely see some dudes in love with their guitars, nodding over their shoulders to the past; we don’t mind that one bit, especially when the tune is this damn good.

Top Albums of 2012: 50-1

Here it is.  I know you’ll hate it; I know you’ll disagree, but that’s not the point in making an arbitrary list.  We here at ATH worked really hard to fit in the tastes of the four of us, and when we decided upon our Top 50, it really boied down to simple math.  What albums did we love when they came out?  Do we still enjoy spinning those records months later? If they’re in the Top 50, then the asnwer is probably yes.  I mean, our Top 2 records came out in January, and still play a vital part in my weekly listening.  There’s no disclaimer here.  We are who we are, we like what we like, and we hope that’s okay with you. If not, drop us a line and let us know where we went wrong.

Sprightly Pop Track from Still Flyin

Sometimes you put on a track and you just want to have a dancing good time; that’s the precise feeling I got as soon as I played this new single from Still Flyin.  Currently the SF group is preparing to release their sophomore effort, On a Bedroom Wall, which will be in stores on May 22nd via Ernest Jenning.   Angular guitar work definitely gives this a bit of a nostalgic flip, but in an endearing manner where you just throw your arms up in the air and go with your gut; your gut is telling you to get out there and shake it. Do it.
