Wristbands for SXSW‘s 2020 Music Conference go on sale tomorrow. Here is what you need to know.
- You must provide a valid credit card with funds available to purchase the number of wristbands you request (up to 2).
- The purchaser will provide their name, phone number, email, valid credit card number and expiration date and billing address. The billing zip code must be listed in the approved greater Austin area list.
- A second wristband may be purchased by providing a separate name and email address. These wristbands are non-transferable and nonrefundable.
- Each named person must personally pick up their wristband (which will be put on their wrist at that time) at the Austin Convention Center.
- Each person may only buy one wristband for themselves and one friend. Any person who succeeds in purchasing multiple wristbands will be charged, but will not be able to use them for other people other than the one friend named at the time of purchase. Click here for an approved greater Austin area list.
We have another big batch of bands you will have to sort through in wristband lines and witness on day party stages.
Here are a few highlights in the initial scan. We have Dead Gaze, Diet Cig, Girls Names, Kuroma, Night Beats, Oberhofer, PWR BTTM, Royal Canoe, Spain, Sweet Spirit, Thee Oh Sees and Chad Valley. The full list announced today is copied and pasted after the break.
…and WRISTBANDS GO ON SALE TOMORROW.
All kinds of festival news today, from ACL wristbands and FFFX schedules, SxSW Music has announced its first round of artists for the 2016 Conference. We have plenty to be intrigued by and plenty of locals already in the scheduling pool. Some random pull outs and intriguing names in alphabetical: Bombino, Caveman, Crystal Castles, A Giant Dog, Har Mar Superstar, Into It. Over It., Moving Panoramas, Pure Bathing Culture, Wildhoney and Yuck.
We shall see what we post about between now and then. Click through and see a list of bands and a selection of panels and their hosts…
More pics of SxSW, you say? Here is the BIG POST OF GOOD for SxSW 2015. I have a big gallery so I can show off. I have a many links worth of ICYMI. I have a few bgray superlatives.
Thanks, SxSW 2015 – you were a little more manageable with a little less edge and quite frankly, I was grateful for that.
Brand. Branding. Brand awareness.
Forget all of that. SxSW has been a bastion of branding experiments. From giant Doritos to McDonald’s trying to be cool, we are inundated by branding and usually, it has been quite unsuccessful. Twitter campaigns hijacked in the name of comedy, new product as a punch line for your snarly friend’s quips. #flatizza
But one brand has been kind of quietly been doing something very cool for musicians. Converse set up Rubber Tracks four years ago giving Texas bands, mostly Austin locals, the chance to get some studio time on the brand’s dime. I was invited to take a tour of the studio compound taken over during SxSW and turned into Converse Rubber Tracks home base, Big Orange and Shine Studio.
A few thoughts, pics of Tele Novella and Hard Proof Afrobeat, and a little Q&A action with the bands after the jump…
You can get your SxSW Music wristbands tomorrow. Same rules as usual – Austin area billing zip code for your plastic, you can buy two wristbands but have to provide the names, you’ll need photo IDs to pick up your wristband which will get snapped on at the start of the conference.
For your $169, you will get access to any venue not at capacity aside from the few showcases that are badge only. I used a wristband last year to get away from FOMO and it was bliss. Go check out someone you have never seen instead of getting barraged by Dorito Taco Loco.
On sale January 22nd at 10am (ATX time), Click here.
Here we go. It has begun. #soonereveryyear
SxSW has released the first round of accepted artists. A few highlights, Courtney Barnett, The Church, Civil Twilight, The Dodos, Natural Child, Royal Teeth, Thee Oh Sees, Twerps and so many local favorites that one might think we booked them.
Check the full list after the break.
It’s hard to believe, but SXSW is officially upon us in a couple of weeks and we’re here to try and keep you as informed as we can until then. An easy way for us to do that is with a handy dandy playlist over on Spotify featuring some of the bands we think you should pay attention to during the week. Sure the playlist has a ton of songs, but you can skip the ones you don’t like right? If you think we missed something big, you’re free to let us know in the comments section. We’ll be bringing you some artist spotlights real soon.
