Indoor Creature Announce Living in Darkness

Our friends over at Indoor Creature have been hard at work prepping for the release of their new LP, Living in Darkness. Just this past weekend they dropped the debut single from the release, an upbeat pop swing that pulls in some R&B influences that are undeniably catchy. Lyrically, they’re definitely taking aim at the masses, taking to task all those seeking greed at the expense of their fellow citizens. Just be sure to save up your energy for the great little horn solo mid track…one of the many highlights in the band’s performance here. They’ll drop the new LP in May via the Record Machine.

ATH Premiere: Historian Readies Current

krisPersonally, I enjoy searching out music that changes on you. You’re accepting one direction, you can see the tension rise, but then it turns. Sometimes, like in the case of Historian, the changes are subtle; they’re quick and simple, like the move that happens around the 2:40 mark. It sets the song off a bit, allowing for the song to grow and change into something completely new; it’s like listening to the evolution of music, right through your speakers. This quiet flare of the dramatic has won Historian, and it’s main songwriter Chris Karman, comparisons to the likes of Spiritualized and Radiohead…that leads to a great deal of promise as the band prepares to release Current on October 30th via The Record Machine.

Light Music Give You Shimmering Indie Rock

9ba37457-ae47-4568-ac50-1bf866e634c0Light Music, who hail from Milwaukee, are releasing a new album next month, and have a new single of their electro rock music to share with you. “Don’t Go Quietly” starts off with urgent synth that rings out quickly, then the vocals join in, which soften the mix in their borderline folk rawness. The electric guitar adds a meandering presence to the song, as the riffs spiral outwards through the otherwise focused and intent electro rock sound. If you like this tune, Light Music‘s new album Ocean’s Daughter is out August 21st on The Record Machine.

Feel Good Tune from Cowboy Indian Bear

cowboyindianbearA sure way to my heart is to throw in some gang vocals.  I don’t really care if they’re harmonized, angrily shouted or whatnot, I just want group vocals!  This beautiful track from Cowboy Indian Bear features just that, so I had to share it with you.  This isn’t an in-your-face group approach, but rather a relaxed gang vocal, accentuated by careful percussion and light instrumentation; it’s clear, at least on this tune, that the vocals are the winner…the song’s not shabby either. The band will be releasing their new record, Live Old Die Young, next week via The Record Machine, and I sincerely hope it makes it on your list of things to check out.
