Slick New Track From The Gloomies

It’s been a second since we’ve heard anything from San Diego based band The Gloomies, but I am pleased to report that the band is still alive and kicking. Proof of their continued existence as a duo comes from this slick new track called “Palms”. It reminds me quite a bit of the earlier work of a band like Yeasayer if the vocals were a bit more reserved and completely in tune with the music. You’ll find a certain groove to the sound that’s sure to have your body moving along in unison.

The Gloomies will release Romance on July 13th via Thrill Me Records.

Mrs. Magician Announce New Single

mrsmagicThe first 30 seconds of this track already had my ears, drifting vocals carefully over distorted guitar, but it wasn’t until the drums jumped in that this new Mrs. Magician tune really grabbed me. They’ve always had a knack for big hooks, and I think the production quality on this tune really allows for the group to layer the vocals of “someday I’ll fall in love,” ultimately leaving you with an emphatic piece of guitar pop. You’ll want to check it out, and look for this new 7″ on Thrill Me Records, which hits just a day or so before the New Year rings in.

Here’s a New Track from The Gloomies

gloomiesI’m just about wrapped up with all my “I was at SXSW” emails, and I think this track from the Gloomies is one that deserves more attention. The band has finalized touches on their debut EP, and you can tell that some polish went into crafting this number; it has this smooth R&B touch beneath the front of the mix, which creates the yearning sensation that accompanies the vocal delivery. They’ll be releasing the Blackout EP courtesy of Thrill Me Records; it hits stores on April 1st.

Great New Track From The Gloomies

unnamed (1)SoCal band The Gloomies just sent out this killer new track “LSD” over the weekend and it’s been on repeat since Saturday.  I think they sound a little bit like Portland newcomers Wampire with maybe just a tad more psych rock to the style.  It’s definitely filled with some familiar sounds, but I think the band are creating something truly unique and all their own.

You can pre-order the band’s new 7-inch via Thrill Me Records (Out Oct. 16th).
