We continue our Fun Fest interviews today with a few questions and answers from now local Neon Indian. We had the chance to speak with founding member and mastermind of the group Alan Palomo. We talk to Alan about his new project, his work with VEGA, and what his future plans are in this crazy musical world he lives in. Follow the jump for to read this really fun interview. And no, we don’t ask him about video games…
Continuing or ACL coverage today, we are excited to bring you an interview with buzz worthy band Passion Pit. These guys have been getting a whole bunch of praise heaped on them from numerous sources and we tend to think they deserve that praise. We recently spoke with Jeff Apruzzese from the band who discusses the hype and buzz surrounding his band. Of course that’s not all we talk about, but you’ll just have to read more to see it all.
Fun Fest just anounced 4 more bands playing the festival in November. They are:
Apparently more will be up tomorrow. Lookin’ good. Check back manana for the next four.
We are big fans of VEGA and we are also big fans of cheap shows at Club Deville on Friday nights. Fellow locals Neiliyo and Joshua Distance will also be on hand to play for the show. Entrance is only $5 if you RSVP at Turn 2 Live or $10 if you don’t. Should be a fun one.[audio: http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/all-too-vivid-originalmix.mp3]

Alan Palomo is a busy busy man who continues to churn out new music under several different monikers. Shortly after the death of Dallas band Ghosthustler, Palomo went on to form ATH fave band Vega who have been getting all kinds of positive press recently. Now the man is busy again with new side project Neon Indian. The sounds are similar to what you’d expect and are sure to get you ready for the summer time dance floor. This track “Terminally Chill” will appear on upcoming album Psychic Chasms due out October 13th on Lefse Records.[audio: http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/neon-indian-terminally-chill.mp3]

Austin’s VEGA is set to release a new digital EP, Well Known Pleasures, on May 19th. We hyped this band prior to SXSW, and we’re pleased to present you with a new track from the band. It’s definitely a track to get your boots stomping across the room, so enjoy.[audio:http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/no-reasons.mp3]

We ran a SXSW watchlist on Alan Palomo’s new project VEGA, but then missed the band amidst the craziness that is SXSW week. Lucky for you and me, Beauty Bar is having a VEGA EP listening party along with a live set by the band on Friday night. Local DJ Prince Klassen will be spinning in-between sets and locals Doneski will provide opening entertainment. This event is totally free and doors open at 8pm. This will be a dance party you won’t want to miss.[audio: http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/all-too-vivid-originalmix.mp3]

No we’re not talking about the Vega from Street Fighter, or Lou Vega, rather the VEGA spelled in all caps. VEGA is the new project from Alan Palomo who used to front Denton, TX based electro/pop band Ghosthustler. We’ve always been big fans of the dance beats produced by Ghosthustler so we were excited to hear about this new project from Mr. Palomo. VEGA sports a lot of the same 80s oriented electronic beats you may be familiar with, but with a unique take on things. An album/EP is expected from the new project sometime this year.
VEGA will be in town for our little festival in March. Check with the official SXSW website for official times and dates.[audio: http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/all-too-vivid-originalmix.mp3]
