Rock Out with New Mumblr

mumblr-4Mumblr have worked hard on their latest album to really pull away from the tried and true sound of emo-punk that’s helped them gain some popularity. Interestingly enough, I think this is the tightest the band has sounded, not to mention the most enthused they’ve sounded. This new single from The Never Ending Get Down does still look back nostalgically, but less into the poppier side of things and more into the area where Jawbreaker pulled up the pop stoplight. Chords ring, cymbals crash, and you’re hooked on everything that’s great…which is pretty much this whole tune. Look for their new album via Fleeting Youth Records on June 10th.

Can’t Resist This New VHS Single

untitledWhen discussing genres like sludge rock or sludge punk, it seems like Violent Human System, shortened to VHS, need to be in the current discussion as one of the genre’s best. We’ve posted about the band several times in the past and today we are treated yet again to another gem. This one, “Art Decay”, is a bit of a slow builder of a song which builds into this driving slacker punk song with some chanting vocals that compliment things nicely. As things build, we are treated to some killer guitar near the end leading us on our way. Nicely done gents.

Gift of Life will come out on June 17th via Suicide Squeeze Records.

Punk Rock Your Thursday With VHS

unnamed-27VHS, or Violent Human System, have joined the impeccable lineup over at Suicide Squeeze Records and with this great news, they’ve shared a single off their upcoming record. This track, “Wheelchair” is a riot of a number– gritty guitars with plenty of distortion are accompanied by the intermittent gang vocals of the whole group joining in to blast you with a lot of hardcore energy. It’s a great punk track, and has got my excited for what awaits us onGift of Life, which will be out June 17th.

Violent Human System Signs w/ Suicide Squueze

vhsSuicide Squeeze is one of my favorite labels, always releasing tunes that hit home. They’ve just announced that they’ll be working with Violent Human System for their debut album, though they’ll offer up a 7″ teaser that includes this song. It’s definitely a post-punk approach, almost in line with some of the work done by Hot Snakes, though the vocals seem to take on more of that post hardcore emo tone as the guitars knife their way through. The 7″ comes out next week, with the full length to follow later on in the year. West Coasters can catch them touring all through February.
