There’s really too many shows to narrow it down to two or three best bets. We’ve got friends band playing left and right, so all we can do is encourage you to attend some sort of musical event…even if its just for a bit. Without further adieu, here’s a list of rad shows you could hit up.
Tuesday night had a couple of shows and this time around, we made the tough choice to go with the touring acts hitting Red7 over a sweet local show at Cheer Up. We know it is overwhelming right now, trying to think about waht bands to see with SxSW just around the corner.
Hope you enjoy. Click through for more thoughts and plenty of pics…
There’s always a lull right before SXSW, so you’ve got to grab onto the great shows while you’ve got the time. Tuesday night offers the dream pop of Craft Spells, and you’re really going to want to be in attendance for this gig. The band have capitalized on two great albums, Idle Labor and Nausea, both on Captured Tracks; they’ve built a name for themselves on creating music that will entrance you, erasing everything around you so that you’re lost in their work. Personally, I’m also really excited to see openers The Bilinda Butchers who I’ve been onto for years, and locals Whiite Walls. It’s going to be a beautiful night of tunes, so join me at the show, won’t you?

What’s better than a free show at one of Austin’s best venues? A free show with three incredible electronic bands, and that’s precisely what you’ll get if you head out to Mohawk tonight. First up you’ll get Silk Rodeo; they offer a dark bit of electronica with an ability to build their sound to swelling heights of pop delight. Then, there’s Whiite Walls; this is perhaps one of Austin’s biggest rising electronic based stars, though they play with a full-on band, making their sets remarkable. Closing the night will be Love Inks, who affirmed their place in the local music scene with last year’s Generation Club. I hear they’re working on brand new tunes, so you might get a set full of new tracks for your ears. In the end, it’s a great local bill, and one you’ll be sore about if you don’t take advantage of this FREE SHOW.[audio:http://austintownhall.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/01-Solar-Diary.mp3]

In the mood for a locally-sourced tasty house dance jam with a great bass line and pretty vocal loops to get you through an afternoon? Good, me too. Thankfully, Michael from ATH favorite Orthy and Samantha of Whiite Walls DJ as Deep Cuts decided to do an original track. It makes me want to put on big headphones and walk around at night with purpose.
