Haunting Shoegaze from Be Forest

Wanted to wrap up today with something eerie, so I’m grateful that this new single from Be Forest just dropped. There’s an ominous tone from the get-go, built on these dancing guitar lines atop a thundering rhythm section. It’s beautifully contrasted with the softness of the vocals, though the vocals seem to be frightened away as the song builds towards the track’s middling interlude. Then it returns, only to fade away into the back of the track, quietly slipping away from us all. The group will release Knocturne on February 8th via WWNBB. Also, since its time to look at SXSW, the band will be coming in from Italy to play here in Austin, with a few other scattered US dates.

More from Brothers In Law

brosItaly’s Brothers In Law have long been on our radar, and their new effort Raise is a huge step in their musical game. They still hold onto some of their elements of dream/indiepop, but they’ve thrown in that circular guitar swell that’s been so enchanting for many shoegaze fans. Vocals are hiding a little bit on some of the more recent work, filling in the space just behind the cascading wall of guitars. This track definitely displays the band’s new found sound and sees them pushing themselves to new levels. Look for their new album via WWNBB now!

Foot-Stomping Pop from Brothers In Law

Those of us who’ve found our lives intertwined with bedroom pop should be rejoicing over the world’s musical fascination with the genre’s reemergence over the last several years.  Even in Italy, Brothers In Law have been crafting their own propulsive blend of atmospheric guitar pop for some time, and they’ve finally got a full-length coming to light titled Hard Times for Dreamers, which is seeing a limited joint release between WWNBB and CF Records (who put out that excellent Sea Pinks record in 2012).  I can’t help but fall in love with this track…sure, there’s a dreamy quality, but I put it on and my arms can’t help but flail about as they spin me around the room in my office. Feel free to fan over this one.
