Last Week’s Jams (3.3 – 3.7)

Sure, we’ve had our eyes on SXSW as of late, but there were so many great songs coming out, we had to hustle to be sure we got to as many as possible. We covered new stuff from the Gotobeds and Reds, Pinks and Purples, plus we got to highlight longtime favorites like The High Water Marks and Exploding Flowers, just to name a few. We had some quick SXSW interviews with Cloth, Snacktime, Last Waltzon, Two Man Giant Squid and Saint Blonde, so all get a little feature loved today, along with the rest of the weekly bangers. Dive on into the collection below.

Wylderness Return with New Single

Welsh outfit Wylderness have been consistently dropping great pop hits since we stumbled upon them several years ago, and their latest single continues in that tradition, even offering a glimpse at where the band go from here. The balance between light guitar notes and heavy riffs is perfect, weaving them together like some dreamy rock quilt of perfection. In that, they manage to use that balance to keep a steadied pace that allows the tune to create a natural tension; they hold that feeling tightly, waiting to unleash it until after the halfway mark of the tune where things spin and crash beautifully. They’ve got a new Safe Mode EP on the horizon, so we’ll keep you posted!

Last Week’s Jams (11.18 – 11.22)

There were a lot of jams, and there wasn’t a lot of time, and all that to say, I still got an excuse to write about the new Cistern EP, with it’s banging opening track included below. Prism Shores continued to shell out hits, while Austin act SKLOSS return with news of their signing to Fuzz Club Records. The Rishis dropped in some delightful psychedelic pop, if that’s your bag, and if not, well maybe you get a little folk on your feet and crank up new Will Johnson for our ears. We also brought out some slow jams from Clara Ziegler and Disarme, among others, so all your feels are here below. Just press play.

Wylderness Offer Big Idea

A few years removed from their last record, Big Plans for a Blue World, Cardiff outfit Wylderness return with a wonderful Monday morning single for your ears. I’m definitely infatuated with the guitar sound, primarily the way it dances into the opening moments, setting the tone for the rhythm to join and add their emphatic touch. Each vocal note seems to hang in the air, waiting to fall upon the listener’s ears. The balance between those angular ringing guitar lines and the angelic vocals is the perfect balance, creating that natural sense of longing to be part of something greater than yourself…the perfect Monday offering. Look for a new EP in 2025 from this lot.
