Daniel Romano’s Outfit Share Where’s Paradise

Rock n’ roll probably doesn’t need to be saved at this point, but if there was someone that I’d back to kind of destroy the modern mediocrity, I’d place my bets on Daniel Romano. If you dive into the surface level of the band’s newest single, you’ve got this old-school power-pop vibe that’s filled with hooks and a shit ton of fun. I’m totally on board, but get underneath and you find this rocking bit of heavy psychedelia grooving in the leftover space. They ride out the close of the song with this smashing riot that reminds us all that you don’t need gizzards or wizards to be cool; you just need Daniel Romano’s Outfit. They release Too Hot to Sleep on March 1st via You’ve Changed Records.

Cool Friday Album Streams: Best Bets, Steven Lambke, Guy Capecelatro III

All three of these acts have definitely featured on our pages over the last few months, and really, I probably don’t need to go into too much detail, as you’re likely just clicking for the streams, right? No biggie. You get some pop rock from New Zealand; the new album from an ex-Constantine, and a record I’ve been raving about all month. Just click on the streams, enjoy the music, and have a rad Friday.

Another Steven Lambke Tune

Another week, another great single (plus bonus track) from the forthcoming Steven Lambke record. The song feels very cyclical, as I reckon most tunes do, but that allows for a really distinctive vocal performance from Lambke, allowing the poetry in his work rise to the top. I love when the tune hits the pseudo-chorus, putting in a little stomp that punctuates the track, albeit momentarily. Plus, if you been following along with Steven’s recent singles, you get an unreleased B-side here, and I’ve included it here, as its definitely a nice little sunny ditty giving off this perfect warmth for Spring. Volcano Volcano is out on April 29th via You’ve Changed Records.

Apollo Ghosts Share Pink Tiger Video

Ever come across a song that seems to be the score for the every-person? The brand of pop songwriting that feels like as soon as it comes on; everyone’s pulled in, lightly bobbing heads and tapping toes; this is the tune you’re going to hear below from Apollo Ghosts. In a way, it seems like its got an omnipresent sound, something complex tied to folk stylings of the late 60s, though its definitely modernized with its arrangements and wordplay. I don’t know…maybe it sounds like a less Norwegian Kings of Convenience, but you’re going to find solace here. I mean, listen in at 1:41; I live for moments like that. The band will release Pink Tiger on March 11th via You’ve Changed Records.

Grunge Alt Rock From Partner

Partner are a two piece who hail from New Brunswick and are making heavy cut alternative rock songs that will make you nod along and perhaps laugh a little. This new song, “Sex Object,” engages the all too common experience of snooping in your roommates room and finding something that wasn’t exactly made for your eyes. The track, while silly, rips pretty hard with its grungey guitars, but manages to stay light with the soft vocals. Take a listen below and get stoked for this duo’s debut album,In Search Of Lost Time, which will be out September 8th via You’ve Changed Records.

Way Interested in Nap Eyes

nappyApparently Nap Eyes is a band that’s slipped beyond everyone’s awareness, at least here in the United States.  The first reason the band caught my eye is that it features members of Monomyth and Each Other…two bands I’ve heard of and adored.  Then there’s this song; it’s fucking great.  It’s got this steady pace to it, as if the song was created simply to back the spoken word.  It’s like a modern twist on the music that nerds fell in love with…see fans of The Feelies and They Might Be Giants.  The group will re-release their hit Whine of the Mystic on July 10th via Paradise of Bachelors and You’ve Changed Records.
