The end of the week here in Austin is jam packed with killer shows, so you better start your night off the right way with a free show over at Trailer Space Records.  As always, it’s BYOB, with donations encouraged to help out the bands.  You’ll get to see Jaill, who just released the excellent Traps on Sub Pop, so there’s some solid pedigree (they’ll also play the following night at Red 7).  You can also catch The Coathangers, who just released a solid 7″ with Suicide Squeeze for the singles club, plus opening the night is Austin’s own John Wesley Coleman.  It’s free, it’s early, and you can buy records. No excuse not to see it.

John Wesley Coleman is one of our local boys, so already you’ve got to head out to support the guy.  He’s just released his new record Bad Lady Goes to Jail on Goner Records, so you will surely get plenty of new tunes, blending elements of garage and country and down-home cooking.  Sure, there are some other shows going on around town, but will you also get to see The Crack Pipes, James Arthur’s Manhunt and The Beta Rhythm?  Exactly, so now you have more reason to enjoy yourself. See you at Trailer Space kids.

SXSW Watchlist: Nobunny & Hunx and His Punx

hunx3nobunnyIf you get tired of wading through a sea of pretentious fixed gear kids with backwards hair, stumble on into the Bachelor Records showcase at Trailer Space Records around 7PM on March 19th to get your fill of the lo-fi rock & roll sounds of Nobunny and the queer stylings of Hunx and His Punx. Unfortunately, this Austin Town Hall contributor lays his head in Oklahoma and will be finishing up grad school while you’re out getting loaded and rocking your asses off with Nobunny and Hunx. Just be sure and have eight or nine for me.
