Have Another Baybs Tune

A couple months ago, Nate Dog delighted us with a new song from San Francisco based up and comer Craig Jacobs and his project known as Baybs. Well now we celebrate the release of Jacobs’ new EP, Introvertigo, with the final single, and title track, from the the collection. For me, this one is all about the progression from the beginning of the song to just about 1 minute or so in as the track tacks this lovely turn, with full drums coming in, and leading us further into the depths of the song. This is a great EP if you’re looking for new music. It’s streamable and purchasable on bandcamp right now.

Baybs Shares Would You Dare

I thank my father for his early influence in my listening habits, instilling a love for folk before I could even manage to buy my own music. Through the years, that’s always been there, though I tend to gravitate towards the heavier side of the genre, like this track from Baybs. It’s the project of Craig Jacobs, who seems to be confronting his demons on this single, using the lyrics and his songwriting to overcome past anxieties about the world; he gets a little backing vocal aid that really makes the tune, courtesy of Zelma Stone and Melissa Russi. It’s a good little rocking folk track, prepping us for the release of his debut Introvertigo EP, out June 11th via Text Me Records.

Jordan Blackmon Shares 2 Songs

Been in an all-sorts-of-mellow mood as of late, when I came across these great tunes from Jordan Blackmon. He played with Toro y Moi as a guitarist for a bit, but has retreated to focus on his own work for the time being. The first of the tunes he’s shared is this really heartwarming piano ballad; it’s short and vocal free, and the studio mix definitely gives it a timelessness, especially when those strings swing into the song. “Family Crest” is the track that first drew me in, however, as it kind of sounds like something from the early 00s indie scene; it has lush arrangements built up around a song that seems like your best friend wrote on the spot outside your favorite coffee shop. Check it.
