ACL WE1 Preview
Hey, everybody. Time for ACL Festival to takeover Zilker. Will I see you on the lawn?
I’ll be out and about both weekends, but let’s start with general tips and tricks and some highlights for those of us attending. The festival certainly isn’t the sanctuary of indie/Austin vibe it was in the past, but the kids do dig it and we certainly have some entertaining headliners and potential drama to fill your battle card.
Click through for the forecast, some notes and some tips to make your fest a success.
Weather: Plan on hats, sundresses for all and plenty of hydration. We had false fall for about a week in Austin, but summer is here again to make sure we all roast in the mid-90s. Friday and Sunday look to have little drama, plan on hot, but Saturday has threatened a hint of rain. I just hope it isn’t that one cloud that drops just enough water to make it unbearably humid.
Artists on the List: Let’s use some categories…
Nostalgia: Naturally, Blink 182 is the draw here. Friday, big stage, let’s go.
Festival Vibes: Leon Bridges, Khraungbin, Stapleton, Jungle, Asleep At The Wheel, Orville Peck, Glass Beams – All viable standing in a field chilling out soundtracks to help you get through it all.
Drama: Mannequin Pussy purely for their name and Chappell Roan or whatever artist takes her place if she isn’t ready to go.
Undercard: See you for vibes at Empress Of
Tips: I’ve said it before, but ACL does have solid food. Look for gaps in the IHG stage lineup if you want to avoid the crowd over at the main ACL Eats. Pay a friend to be the pack mule so everyone else can hit the no bag line. Be nice. Save screenshots of the lineup and the map.
