SxSW Music Announces Round Two

SxSW Music 2014Gary Numan. That should be cool. Could create an opportunity to have a stage full of legends and the influenced…

PR Quote:

The second round of SXSW Music Festival artist announcements is here, including a much-anticipated appearance by synth and industrial music pioneer Gary Numan.

Numan’s influence has been recognized by a diverse array of artists, including Prince, Lady Gaga, Trent Reznor, Queens of the Stone Age and Kanye West. His latest, and first full-length studio album since 2006, Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind), is bound to continue such praise, with the award-winning electro-pioneer teaming up with Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck and producer Ade Fenton for his heaviest and most accomplished album to date.

Other notable round two artists include Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, new Bella Union signing Ballet School, Talib Kweli, Quantic, Of Mice & Men, and more!

Other notables include Wye Oak, In The Valley Below, Phantogram, Typhoon, Diarrhea Planet. CLICK HERE for the big list!

FFF8 In Pictures – Saturday Edition

BleachedSaturday featured legends and legendary performances, though usually not at the same time. Johnny Jewel gets best performance of the day with double duty killer jams from Chromatics and a manic dance party with Glass Candy. MIA eludes me. I just don’t get it, but okay, the kids like to here abbreviated beats up and down. Ice-T let Bushwick Bill freestyle. Deerhunter had the most epic sound check ever, reconstructing “Marquee Moon” to test the levels.

This giant photo post features Frank Smith (kinda), Ola Podrida, Bleached, The Impossibles, White Lung, Chromatics, Geographer, Glass Candy, Television, Tycho, Deerhunter, MIA, Ice-T and The Descendants. Click through…

Tycho Is Playing Fun Fun Fun Fest

TychoMOAR FFF8

Tycho is on my rainy-day-artists list. I have been able to listen to Tycho more in the last month and half than the last year and a half. Yes, we need it. Fortunately, we are getting a lovely break in the wet stuff for our festival this weekend.

Scott Hansen is Tycho. Tycho is playing on the Blue Stage on Saturday @ 6:20pm.

Bonobo Is Playing Fun Fun Fun Fest

BonoboFun Fun Fun Fest is a week away.

Among the artists coming that I have been a fan of for a long time, one that I have always had a conflict to prevent me seeing live set is Bonobo. Dial ‘M’ For Monkey is a mandatory road trip album. Can’t recall what was going on that I couldn’t make the show earlier this year at Emo’s, but I missed it. While Simon Green is touring with a band, he is also one helluva DJ. If you aren’t familiar with The Boiler Room, get familiar. It is a great way to soundtrack your late night activities.

I give you the Bonobo track he opens this Boiler Room set with called “Cirrus” to download and you can stream the set in the widget dealie below that. Cool thing is that you can download the Boiler Room set, as well. See the “Download” just below the player thingie? Click that doo-hickey and put your head down.

PYAITK: I Break Horses – “Faith”

This song is so good.

I love it.

SRSLY.

It came out last week as a second preview track of I Break Horses pending, much synthier and dancier, 2014 release. There is a video for this song and another not-as-awesome preview track called “Denial” after the break. But before you do that, hit play and put your head down. …or dance around like a whackjob.
