Digging This New Hypoluxo Track

Easily my favorite track from the last few days has to be this new one called “Sometimes” from Brooklyn based Hypoluxo. The song talks a lot about being lazy and wanting to stay inside, but the music offers a bit of a contrast to that with bright guitars and an almost dreamy feel. It reminds me quite a bit of bands like Beach Fossils or Real Estate, though the deep and heavy vocals offer some the band can call their own. Ya feel me.

Hypoluxo will release new EP Taste Buds via Broken Circles on August 4th.

Another One From BIRDS

Less than a month ago I shared a tasty new rock n roll track from Brooklyn based BIRDS and I’m excited to bring you another new song from the group today. This new one called “Scatter” treats us yet again to some straight up rock music with a bit of fuzz and psych elements to boot. It’s time for you to get this band on your radar if you haven’t done so already.

BIRDS will release debut album Everything All At Once on August 18th via Greenway Records (pre-order).

Digging This New BIRDS Tune

When one is struggling to find some new tunes to share on this here site, it’s always a good idea to return to simple rock n roll. Today I treat you to some great rock from Brooklyn based BIRDS with their new single “Get Away”. Once you hit play, be ready for 2.5 minutes of a fast paced, guitar driven, straight up rock song. It will be worth your time to listen to this one.

New Rocker From Teen Vice

Ah yes it is Friday and it’s a great time to end the week with some rock. My Brooklyn friends in Teen Vice are prepared to give us just what the doctor ordered. Rips Are Right Up My Alley

I hadn’t heard of Rips prior to yesterday, but apparently they’re the next big thing out of the Brooklyn scene. This time around, I’ll buy a ticket for they hype train as they’re clearly doing something that’s right in my wheelhouse. It’s a little bit nostalgic, a little bit power-pop…and everything good. Despite this tune’s look towards old school NYC vibes, the dreamier quality of the guitar styling is perhaps what sticks out the most, providing a very modern notch of flair that has me excited to hear what comes next. They’ll be releasing their debut self-titled LP on June 16th…and looks to be a hit in my book.

Dark Pop From No Kill

I always love it when a band I’ve never before heard of sends me some nice new tunes to start my day. This morning I was treated to just such an event via this track “Tremolo” from Brooklyn based group No Kill. It’s a delightfully dark and heavy pop number complete with heavy, distorted guitars and just the right amount of percussion in the background. Stay tuned as I receive more information about this promising up and coming band.

Sorry I Missed This: New Doubting Thomas Cruise Control

I loved what I heard from Doubting Thomas Cruise Control back in 205 with their Remember Me John Lydon Forever LP; it offered up a heavier, punkier version of the slow-core perfected by the likes of Bedhead. Now, they’ve just released Bob Ross II, with similar notes, though the puncher elements bring an added attitude of quirkiness/nerdiness, like theshort jam “Catch My Drift.” The album also has an ode to everyone’s favorite foil Falstaff, so that works for this bookworm. If you’re looking for a rocking act that owes debts to the New Year or Pinback, then go grab this LP now, and feel free to enjoy rock n’ roll again.

Noisey New Pop Number From Dead Leaf Echo

As if I wasn’t already excited enough for Brooklyn based Dead Leaf Echo to be heading into town for SXSW, I now have this new single to grow my anticipation. As usual, these guys bring a noisy, shoegaze pop sound worthy ofall the current greats in the genre. Not surprising when each band member has a history of greatness in bands like Wax Idols, My Bloody Valentine, No Joy, etc. Get ready.

Dead Leaf Echo will release a new EP entitled Strawberry Skin on March 31st via Papercup Music.

Sun Voyager Return With Another Banger

Brooklyn based rockers Sun Voyager is a band that has long earned praise here on ATH. Their music is always heavy and always rocking, similar to bands like Ty Segall or even local group Swords. Today they’ve shared with me this incredible new track “Trip”. If you were dragging on your Friday morning, this song will surely wake your ass up and set you right. Enjoy.

Stream New Album From Belle Mare

Hopefully the band has been on your mind over the last few years because they’ve been working on a new album up in New York since that time. The album is called Heaven Forget and was released towards the end of last month. For those unacquainted with the band, be ready for some dream pop music similar to Beach House or My Gold Mask with some truly emotion evoking rises and falls. Basically, it’s pretty damn good.
