Austin A2W: Galapaghost

Seems like it’s been forever since we ran an Austin Artist to Watch post right?  Maybe.  Our most recent addition to ATH faves will now have to includes Austin’s very own Galapaghost.  The band is basically a one man show of recent Woodstock, NY transplant Casey Chandler.  Since graduating from SUNY Purchase in NY only a short year and a half or so ago, Chandler has already written, produced and recorded 3 EPs on his own.  I’ve had a chance to check out all three extended players and have to say that his most recent work Runnin’ has to be the man’s best effort to date.  Featured inside that EP you’ll find 7 songs built mostly around Chandler’s trusted ukulele intertwined with some soft vocal harmonies and the occasional bass drum kick.  The title track from said EP can be found below which is easily the catchiest number from Chandler and also my own personal favorite.  Galapaghost is for fans of the subtle folk pop intensity of Horse Feathers, Sun Kil Moon, or even Great Lake Swimmers.
