SXSW Preview: Jacuzzi Boys

It’s almost impossible to believe that SXSW is already around the corner.  Almost.  Things get crazy busy around these parts with planning a party, interviewing bands, and mapping out some semblance of a schedule for the week.  At times we all forget that this aint about getting wastey on free booze, but rather “about the music man”. I hope you’ll pardon my lame attempt at an introduction to this post and simply take note and listen to Hardly Art’s finest Jaccuzi Boys.  Follow the jump for more.

It’s hard to say what it is about spring that makes me want to rock, maybe it’s the transition from the winter lull to the promise of sweet freedom in summer.  Maybe it’s just our favorite week of the year making me want to jump off a stage somewhere.  Whatever it is, few indie bands these days create a unique and progressive form of rockin’ and rollin’ like Miami based Jacuzzi Boys.  The band occupies a strain of indie rock that most would call “garage rock” or “lo-fi”, but they offer so much more than some silly label can supply.  No their music gives the listener some parts Black Lips guitar driven rock, a little doo-wop swing, and several parts of all things awesome.

Last year I found myself bored with the multitude of electronic laptop bands that seem to take over SXSW when UK boys The Vaccines pulled me out of my doldrums and blew me away.  Maybe Jacuzzi Boys will provide a similar awakening this year.  Cheers
