SXSW Interviews: Radiation City

More SXSW interviews!  Yep it may seem nuts to some, but we’re crazy around these parts and we like to provide as much coverage as humanly possible.  This here interview comes your way from lo-fi indie group Radiation City.  Questions are coming your way from founding father of RC Randy Bemrose.  Check it out after the jump.

ATH: What is the most challenging thing about being a band during SXSW or another similar festival?

RC: Deciding how much is enough. There are so many wonderful experiences to be had in a festival environment that you can burn the candle at both ends very easily. You don’t want to miss a minute, but you’ve got to be good to yourself and take the time to eat, drink water, and rest your eyes and ears.

ATH: What are some tips you would offer newbie bands to survive during SXSW or just in general on tour?

RC: Don’t pack so much that there’s no room in your bags or the van to pick things up along the way.  Do bring a ball to play with, quick dry shorts, plenty of water, duct tape, jumper cables, a flashlight, and a AAA card. You can never have enough media for long drives either. Music, movies, comics, books… whatever floats your boat. Finally, be careful, happy, and kind.

ATH: What music are you guys currently jamming in your tour bus?

RC: Tobacco, The Crystals, Starfucker, Bowie, Gorillaz, Doug E. Fresh were a few from the last couple days.

ATH: Who wins the Euro Cup this summer? It’s okay to tell us you hate soccer.

RC: I couldn’t tell you. I can say is the Blazers are not going to win the Finals this year.

ATH: Due to licensing, you’ve had to change the band name, or else you get sued! What do you change it to?

RC: Who knows?

ATH: It’s fairly early in the musical year.  What’s in store for your band before the world ends in December?

RC: We’re releasing an EP in April, an LP in late summer or early fall and a great deal of touring in support of both.

ATH: What’s the best pre-show beverage for the band? Let’s get brand specific! And, what’s the worst free shot we can buy you at SXSW?

RC: Upper: Stumptown Coffee , Downer: Old Overholdt neat . Worst shot? Rumplemintz .

ATH: Being out on tour, what’s the one thing you miss about being back at home?

RC: Family and friends.

ATH: Best band of all time is….?

RC: The Beatles
