Levitation Interview: The Holydrug Couple
We’re just about there. A few more short days and Levitation 2015 will be upon us. ATH is excited for the weekend and we’re also excited to bring you another interview today from Holydrug Couple. Follow the jump for interview.
ATH: Describe your new album Moonlust (out May 12th) in three words.
Ives: Peacocks, absinthe, willow.
ATH: Levitation is the first stop on your U.S. tour… how would you describe your emotions at the outset of the tour? Is a lot riding on this festival spot to kick things off on the right note?
Ives: Mmm, I’m not sure, I guess I feel very anxious. I try not to think too much about it really.
ATH: From my understanding, you’re also in Follakzoid, who are playing on Sunday of the festival, while your set is on Friday night… any big plans for your weekend in Austin?
Ives: I used to play in Follakzoid in 2010 and 2011 as I remember. So, haha, I’m not playing with them since then. We have to play on Memphis on Saturday.
ATH: Best/Worst part of going on tour?
Ives: The best is that everyday is a new thing, travelling through different landscapes while listening to music, getting feedback from people everyday. The worst is missing my bed constantly.
ATH:What band are you most excited to check out at Levitation?
Ives: Lightning bolt for sure.
ATH:What’s the best band that’s up-and-coming out of the Chilean music scene that everyone needs to know about?
Ives: I would recommend a guy named Eggglub. He use samples of old soul and disco records and make instrumental hip hop tracks only with an SP 404. Really inspiring.
ATH: With your ever-growing bank of songs to pick from, how do you decide what tracks to play during a set…especially a festival set?
Ives: Mmmm, I guess the favorites at the moment, usually some news ones promoting the new album and old favorites.
The Holydrug Couple play on Friday May 8th @ 6:45pm at the Elevation Ampitheater…be sure to catch their set!
