actually, making supergroups with any musical associates of these figures would work as well, for example: mo tucker, drums, don cherry, trumpet etc…

    rock on!

This band (comprised strictly of personal favorites) would probably be a mess, but they might be able to find some common ground in a Stones-y/Faces/roots-o-rock groove.

(Looks like I might have put this in the wrong comments, so I’m reposting it here. Since the other one says “Your comment is awaiting moderation,” you can decline that one.)

  • Four Generation Funk Band

James Brown – (60’s) Vocals. Sure, you may not know what he’s saying most of the time, but you know he’s FEELING it. And he makes the audience feel it. The Godfather.

Bootsy Collins (70’s) – Bass. Someone has to hold down the groove. How about the man that played with both James Brown and George Clinton (and gave T-Pain his fashion sense)? Oh hell’s yeah.

Prince – (80’s) Guitar/Vocals. Gotta give Prince some love for his guitar chops; the man could play anything. And he’s the funkiest Minnesotan ever (with apologies to Al Franken). Plus, he could throw in some wicked vocals into the mix (hello falsetto!).

Dr. Dre – (90’s) Beats/Production. This might seem like an odd choice, but this is the 21st century. The man does beats like no other. On the Chronic, he leaned heavily on the work of Parliament-Funkadelic to invent “G-Funk.” 2001 showed his originality and crazed perfectionism. The man’s work is impeccable. I daresay he could be the glue to hold this supergroup together.

Sure, I could start throwing in other random rock idols (*cough* “everyone else” *cough*), but I think the mix of these four would be awesome. Any more would just be overkill.

  • Birds of War

    Guitar Hero: Carlos Santana
Vocals: Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips) & Regina Spektor
    Keys: Page McConnell (Phish)
    Funk & Dance: The Meters
