New Lightheaded? Another chance to get to know the latest signing to Slumberland Records? Yes, please! I should have known from the first 20 seconds that this track would have me swooning, particularly as the set up is delightful, teasing you along with a thumping bass groove and a ringing bit of synths and guitar. When the vocals come in, they ride on a light backbone of keys. As the song slowly travels, the floor spreads, waiting to explode into this glorious moment of euphoric pop; the climactic moment is more than enough to keep you coming back again and again. This is one special song! Good Good Great is out on October 13th.

Louisville outfit So It Was just recently dropped their Round the Mountain LP a month or so ago, but as there’s so much great music, I’m just now sliding into it thanks to the brand new video for “Dance Now.” This jam opens with this tension building plucked note; it rings sharply as the vocals speak from the beyond, waiting for the tune to turn. And boy does it ever, with a huge rise at the 1:01 mark where the chorus sets itself up nicely and spins into this blissed out pop groove. It’s a locked in moment that moves the indie rock vibes straight into a spin-around pop moment you’ll be taking with you on your daily adventures. Round the Mountain is out now!

Steven Adams Shares Head Keeps Rolling

Not sure why I expected anything less, but these new Steven Adams tunes continue to impress me; I can’t get enough of the latest single. Honestly, it feels like what you’d get if you took Tom Petty and turned him to an indie rock nerd. The song’s got the huge hooks and insatiable quality that will have even the coolest kids humming under their breath, but under Steven’s eye, this song’s got just enough swagger and hipness to keep it working just left of center. There’s just something so wonderfully timeless in every note kicked out of my speaker right now. Adams will release Drops on November 10th via Fika Recordings.

Squirrel Share Stick Figures

Squirrel is a home-recording artist based in New Jersey, but listening through the craft on his fresh single, it seems like he might be best suited for the quaint town of Athens, Georgia. You’ll hear a certain devotion to pop sounds in the building of the tune, with elements of creative warble and fuzz abundant in the space behind the vocals. Something about it reminds me of early Elf Power, which is one of my most cherished vibes. But, there’s also a bit of Islands/Unicorns in the poppier side, which I think really made the tune magical in my ears. If you’re digging, Squirrel will release Everything Sucks Forever on October 30th.

Video Age Share Golden Sun (Levitation Artist)

If ever there was a song title that established the mood of the song for the listener, then it has to be this new track from Video Age. For starters, there’s this lightness to the track, almost playful like the first rays of Spring after a long dark Winter; the airy nature sets up the abundant melodic nature you can’t escape. Speaking of that melody, whether it pops up in the notes from the keys or the vocals, it blankets you in this striking warmth, crisp and golden, as the song title would suggest. The band release Away from the Castle on October 27th via Winspear…then celebrate two days later at Levitation!

Cade Earick Shares Gazed Single

We always feel like trudging about when it’s a Monday, so it felt like something with a heavy wash atop it would be fitting, which is where we get to meet up with this splendid new tune from Cade Earick. Despite that weighted guitar feedback, there’s plenty of melody that will allow you to sink your teeth into this track, finding Earick’s voice permeating the madness, hanging in between the cracks to let those light notes hook you. As more of the song unfolds, some of those heavy pieces began to fade away, revealing a little calm until the track erupts again to draw it to a close.

While it seemed like a slow week, in my brain at least, there was lots of really great stuff to cover over on the site. We were happy to host the new video from Seablite, so be sure you drop in and give it a couple of looks. Novanta Share Volta Single, Drop Punk for Introverts

When you label your album Punk for Introverts, folks should expect that you’re going to get something that has you staring at your shoelaces as you contemplate the meaning of the world. That is precisely what Italian outfit Novanta have done with their latest LP, crafted an album of billowing pop songs that fill your room like a broken fog machine that just won’t turn off. Every twist and turn in the song just seems to hit you at your core, but it’s when the band returns from the song’s interlude that I found it to really resonate with me; there’s a dancing guitar line and this swell of atmosphere that just blows you right back. If you’re a punk and feel like spending your day alone, then maybe this is the soundtrack for you! Punk for Introverts is out today via Factory Flawless.

Cool Vibes from Auragraph

I spend my day surrounded by 13 year olds, so pardon me if I ask for your vibe check here, but I think either way, your day can’t be harmed by Auragraph. The artist behind the project, Carlos Ramirez, employed a lot more improvisation on this new record, and we’re definitely going to get some late night groove benefits from this one. You can feel the pulse, accented by this chiming cymbal sample and hollowed drum rattle that give this industrial feel to the dancefloor. If you’re willing to drop your pretension, perhaps you’ll want to spend some time with New Standard; it hits on November 17th via Dais Records.
