Two New Tracks From Melt Mountain

Today’s band that you should acquaint yourself hail from the far reaches of Athens– no, not Athens, GA, but the literal far reaches of Athens, Greece. Melt Mountain is a four piece that generates guitar driven indie rock with some touches of psychedelia and theyreleased a new album yesterday, so I thought I’d share two tracks off that record with you. Below you can take a taste of “Fascinating Things” and “Saturdays,” both of which are gems. I’m partial to “Saturdays,” which reminds me a little bit of the twisted rock of Suckers, perhaps in the vocal yelps. But “Fascinating Things” is also a great tune to jam to and appreciate sonically in its changing soundscape.

New Video From Fallow Land

Fallow Land are a two piece who hail from Ann Arbor who are crafting dreamy indie rock music. They’ve shared a new video for their track “Faux,” off their upcoming EP release and it’s one you shouldn’t miss. The guitars are crisp and tight, building spirals around the stop-and-start percussion. The video for the track alludes to imagery you’d expect from a thriller movie trailer and puts you a little on edge as you travel through the woods. Check it out below and then go pre-ordertheir upcoming PinscherEP, which will be out June 30th.

Thrasher From Dasher

Dasher have recently signed to Jagjaguwar Records, announced their debut album, Sodium, and shared the title track from this upcoming record. While I’m not prone to listen to music such as heavy as this, there’s definitely something pulling about the post-punk instrumentation that caught my ear. The vocals are a harsh scream that may take some getting used to, but the band does a great job building the track to its climactic finish. Take a listen below and then go pre-order their forthcoming record right here.

Sodium will be out July 14.

Bedroom Pop From Willolux

I’ve got a soft spot for well written bedroom pop driven by nostalgic, often powerhouse, female vocals– a-la Angel Olsen or Lady Lamb. Today’s fresh batch of this kind of music comes from an artist by the name of Willolux, or the project of Kristina Emmott, out of Vancouver. This track, “Modern Day Maestro” packs in some fine songwriting, telling a tale of young-adulthood in our current age of “dying to know who’s looking at you.” Emmott’s vocals are smoky and rich, but when she hits the notes on the chorus, you’ll be singing right alongside her. Take a listen below, and thenstay tuned for more tunes from Willolux.

Brief and Delightful Ditty From Michael Nau

I may be a little slow on the uptake on this new(ish) track from Michael Nau, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t check it out and be fashionably late to the party with me. “I Root” may be short, but it still packs quite the pop punch. It’s quiet and shimmery pop– something you may hear fluttering over speakers in a quaint, perhaps European, cafe as you sip strong coffee. There’s light percussion, Nau’s sweet and doleful vocals and solid songwriting. Take a listen below and find out what you’ve been missing out on.

Some Twist, will be out June 16th via Suicide Squeeze Records. Pre-order it here.

Lovely Folksy Track From Bedouine

Bedouine has shared a new video for the track “Solitary Daughter,” and it’s shaping up to be my track of the day, as it’s matching up perfectly with the rain that’s over Austin right now. The tune features effortless songwriting, gentle and timeless acoustic guitar accompanying the fluttering vocals of Azniv Korkejian. The video that accompanies the tune shows depicts Korkejian peacefully playing the guitar with an old-timey overlay on it, complete with fadeouts of landscape images. Check it out the tranquil tune below.

Jesse (of Pure X) Shares Mellow Tune

Pure X’s Jesse has made the news today with the sharing of his second single, “De-pression” from his upcoming album release. When you click play below, you’ll be bathed in a melancholy groove of bedroom pop. The vocals are smoky and distant, yet oddly comforting through the funky bass line and the crunchy percussion. There’s a coolness to the track that comes from the synth squalls and backing “oohs” that makes you want to close your eyes and zone out for a few minutes. Take a listen below.

Hard Skywill be out June 23rd via Uniform Group. Go pre-order one of the limited LPs here.

A Sure Hit From Dave Depper

The danceable tracks just don’t seem to stop coming today and the latest groove is from Dave Depper and features the lovely vocals from Laura Gibson to help out. “Your Voice On The Radio” packs a lovely blend of electro pop and dueling vocals with a proper build up and hooky chorus to get you singing along. From the start you get pulsating synths that bubble under and grow the tension with aid from some psychedelic guitar riffs. Of course you can’t ignore the crisp vocal aid from Laura Gibson that makes the track really stand out in terms of electro pop. Take a listen and get stoked for Dave Depper’s upcoming release, Emotional Freedom Technique, which will be out June 9th via Tender Loving Empire.

Fresh Synthpop From Wild Arrows

Wild Arrows, out of Brooklyn, will be releasing their new album, Dreamlike Dream, this Friday and they’ve just shared a track from that release to catch your ear. “Alphabet Girl” is a slow moving synth drenched rock beast, which pulsates heavy from start to finish. There’s a nice even beat to the jam that may induce head bobbing. Personally, I like the way the tender vocals really contrast with the harsher synth sounds.Check it out below.
