Bouncy Pop From The Edward Furlongs

edfurlongsThe Edward Furlongs are a New Jersey based group that are focused on crafting indie pop tunes that are a meld of both old and new sounds. The track that I have for you today is called “Cold Car,” and when you take a listen, you’ll see just what the band means by a mix of old and new. There’s classic elements like acoustic guitar and horns, but there’s alsodrone-like synth and drum machine-esque percussion. The vocals are reminiscent of that you’d encounter on a Dirty Projectors track and push the track into a whole new direction. Take a listen and hear for yourself.

Fairly Late To The Party: Circles/Waves

screen-shot-2016-10-10-at-9-57-09-pmEvery now and then, when patrolling the internets for new tracks to share, you come across something that’s not particularly new, but it’s so exciting and good that you feel compelled to spread the word– such is the case with Brooklyn based trio, Circles/Waves. The first song I heard from them snagged my attention, and it’s the song I’ve included in the post below. “Inside Out (Demo)” showcases the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Claire Lorenzo that just glide along atop the pleasing blend of folk instrumentation. If you’re liking what you’re hearing here, then you should swing by over here and check out the EP that the band released earlier in the year. Also be on the lookout for more from this group, as it looks like they’re recording a full length.

Scooterbabe Give You Great Pop Punk

scooterbabeIt seems like the trend these days is to make super short tracks, which is all fine and dandy, until some band like Scooterbabe comes around with the track “Sick Spine,” which just makes me crave more from the band! This song features a lovely addition to the Scooterbabe sound in the form of vocals from Jianna Justice, and it looks like we can expect more of her presence on the upcoming record from the band. The track is short, but it’s also a lovely example of jangly pop-punk, with great lyrics and toe-tapping percussion. Take a listen.

The Sorrow You’ve Been Toting Around, their debut full length, will be out November 4th.

Dream Along With This New Miniature Tigers Jam

1898731_10152314403414155_407595053_oWe love Miniature Tigers–it’s really no secret. So you can bet that we’re stoked to see the band come out with another great single on the way to the release of their next proper album. The band recently shared a new track called “Dreaming,” which you can check out below. The song is a nice blend of synth pop, which you’ll pick up on from the beginning when you hear the effervescent synths bounding around in the mix. Then, the vocals kick in and you’re launched into a full fledged pop jam, with a chorus that will lodge itself into your brain and will have you singing right along. Take a listen and look out for

I Dreamt I Was a Cowboy, which is out October 28th.

Time Travel With Savoy Motel

13494865_295607944106945_9025801514086833377_nWho doesn’t love some quality synchronized dance steps done to the beat of a 70s glam rock hit? When you take a peek at the video that Savoy Motel did for “Sorry People” below, you’ll find yourself transported to another age completely– visually, the aesthetic of the video matches the traditional glam rock of the music, which makes it all feel right. The song is a gem, and I find myself even more engaged in the music while watching the video. Take a few minutes to spend with Savoy Motel and ease through the rest of the day. Their self titled debut album will be out October 21st viaWhat’s Your Rupture? Records.

New Rocker From The Orwells

unnamed-3In case you didn’t hear it yesterday, The Orwells are back again with yet another single. They’ve put out the new song, “Buddy,” which you can take a listen to below and jam right along with the band. This group of rockers has a knack of making you fall in love with their music in a short amount of time, and this track is another test of that special skill– after all, the track is barely over a minute long. Nevertheless, it’s a right jam of a song, and it’s certainly got me tapping my toes and bouncing along. What do you think?

Chill Electro Pop From Tony Pops

14333765_1474138122601778_6614533706587267809_nWith the incoming barrage of negative news that’s bound to be coming your way, sometimes what you need is a nice mellow electro-pop tune to turn on and chill out to. If that is indeed what you’re needing in your life, look no further, as this track, “Mine” from Tony Pops surely does that job very well. This song is like a cool bath of electronic energy that doesn’t overwhelm you with too much going on– instead each element glides smoothly through the mix, making for a delightful listening experience. The vocals are mild and barely there; whispery and delicate, they compliment the streaming synths and poppy drum machine beats. Look out for more from Tony Pops.

Refined Lo-Fi From American Wrestlers

unnamed-2Refined lo-fi? Isn’t that an oxymoron? Well, maybe, but if you’re at all familiar with American Wrestlers‘ music then you’ll understand what I mean when you press play on this new song, “Amazing Grace.” In the past, the tunes we’d heard from Gary McClure and company were gritty– super fuzzy and washed out tracks with McClure’s voice hanging high in the mix. This new track shows a ton of growth for the band in that the mix has cleaned up a bit to allow for a variety of sound to be expressed. You get the tinkling piano that carries the tune, but the overall vibe is anthemic and soaring, something along the lines of The War on Drugs. This track is from the bands’ forthcoming album Goodbye Terrible Youth, which is due out November 4th via Fat Possum Records.

Dreamcoat Give You Glowing Indie Roc

14107860_1313459802061191_411731909503790422_oIf you’re like me, then you’re a sucker for some good old fashion indie rock. Dreamcoat, a four piece out of Melbourne, have got a good dose of that clean sound on their new(ish) track, “Winter,” which you can listen to below. Here in the ATX it may seem like we’re a far cry away from the cooler temps that the aforementioned season entails, you can channel that sort of energy with the track. It’s a mellow track, but by no means is it a sleeper– the song really builds over its course, the vocals becoming more and more forward and commanding in the mix, while there’s definitely some excitingly detailed percussion happening throughout. You’ll find it’s a lush indie rock track that will beg repeated listens. This great track is taken from the bands’ upcoming EP, which is called Sleeping Through Tempests, and is out October 14th
