Hazy Rock From Stonefield

11044964_967184786625430_3994156824728105663_nThe ladies of Stonefield hail from the small rural town of Victoria, Australia and have been rocking since 2006. This new song below, “Golden Dream” shows their loud and noisey rock and roll approach, balanced by the wispy and sugary vocals. What’s good about this track is the simple, yet still able to give you a solid rocking out. Apparently, this is the first of more to come from these ladies from a potential new album, so keep your ears and eyes on full alert.

New Track From Ultimate Painting

ultimateWe’ve been fans of Ultimate Painting for a little while now, so naturally we’d like to share with you this new track from the band called “Break The Chain.” On this number, you get the same kind of laid back dreamy pop that you’re used to from the band, but you’ll find that’s not a bad thing at all. This smooth number that will have you swaying to and fro comes from the band’s highly anticipated sophomore record, Green Lanes  which will be released August 7th via Trouble In Mind.

Grunge Pop From Franky Flowers

10988325_1610313425864842_1388397097689672816_oWho doesn’t love those grungey pop songs that remind you of yesteryear? Well, this track from Franky Flowers is sure to get you feeling loads of nostalgia today with their fuzzed out sound. “Sneakers” has sort of a Modest Mouse feel to it, with both its twangy and heavy guitars; the song is a mix between meandering pop and grunged out rock and roll. I’m digging this track, which was just recently released as an EP you can pick up here.

Why Not Post This Kid Wave Song?

11062747_867581376647306_8640502923917984062_oKid Wave are on the cusp of releasing their first full-length record, and from the sound of the singles they’ve been putting out, including the one below, you don’t wanna miss out on this London act. “Best Friend” has Kid Wave at their best: slacker indie rock that’s just laid back enough to seem easy, but when you listen closely, you’ll hear the level of nuance that this band of youths bring to that genre. The deep set vocals of Lea Emmery are paired nicely with some cutting electric guitar, which follow each other through the song. Wonderlust is out June 1st via Heavenly Recordings.

Is It Too Early For DRINKS?

19610_10155452533335391_6948918671521668370_nIs that even a real question? No, but it’s also not too early for the new project of Cate Le Bon and Tim Presley of White Fence, called DRINKS. Not only have they announced this new project, but they’ve also shared that their debut album will be coming out August 21st. That album shares the title with the song below, “Hermits On Holiday,” which starts out mellow with just Cate’s distinctive vocals and guitar, but as the song winds up, it emerges as a hodgepodge pop number with a rustic flair.

Peacers Bring The Funky Folk Psych

large_donovan_mikeYou may know Mike Donovan from his former band Sic Alps, but now he’s back with a new project called Peacers which includes a little help from Ty Segall. Though quite brief, this the track below is a funky mix of folk and psych music, with lo-fi production. The guitars twang and sprawl all over the place, but the vocals are quite subtle and soft. This debut, self titled, LP is out July 17th via Drag City Records, so be ready for that.

Chill Monday Vibes From Morning Show

morningMondays are sometimes meant to be taken slow, so I’ve got a track for you today from Morning Show, a Vancouver/Victoria trio who makes indie rock a-la Death Cab For Cutie. This song “Underline” is a nice blend of soft and quiet and the band uses this up and down nature of the song to really rope you in. There’s a nice bit of piano that starts the track off, and then the vocals chime in with just the right amount of rasp and clarity to them. Then when they launch in full tilt you get some distorted guitar and bombastic percussion all underlined with a bit of electronic sounds. Morning Show have a new EP out called Prom Theme, on which you’ll find this fine track and four others and you can find that here.

Move Your Body With Hey Anna

heyannaRayRay told you that you should keep your ears tuned for more music from this group, Hey Anna, out of Brooklyn, and so I’ve got another excellent gem of a song that further enforces this point. “Move Your Body,” is a perfect pop song that balances smooth vocals with the crisp pop instrumentation of the track. This song is yet another from the band’s self released debut LP, Run Koko, which  is out July 7th.
