We’ll be set up and going by 5pm. Party on.

Uni Boys Share Another Jam

My dudes in Los Angeles based outfit Uni Boys have really been hitting me with some sweet jams recently, both with single “I Want it Too,” and now this new track “Two Years.” It’s honestly just a straight JAM in the vein of indie, or even a twee sort of pop sound. Having already listened to it 3 times this morning, I can assure you that it will warrant multiple repeat plays as you ease into the afternoon.

Just another reminder that the new Uni Boys album Buy This Now! will be out on October 13th via Curation Records. Pre-order it now!

New Double Single From Omat

New York City based indie label Fire Talk has long been one of our favorite sources for new and upcoming bands both in the NYC area and throughout the country. Over the last year or so, the label has been dropping a ton of new and unreleased tracks from bands not necessarily on their main outlet via the imprint Open Tab. You can spend your day checking out all those tunes, but also put some heavy focus on these two new ones from the Brooklyn based band OMAT. Both have a heavier focus with a sort of post-grunge inspiration and straight badass vocals from leading lady Dharma Ramirez. Dig it.

Dark Wave From Great Northern

California based outfit Great Northern shared this new track “Bad Light” late last week and today seemed like a good time to share. It shows a depth of dark wave pop for fans of say Beach House or The Kills but with heavier synth and even gothier undertones. The single comes as part of a series of new joints from this year which allude to an upcoming collection or album coming later this fall. Stay tuned.

Sean Henry Drops Everything Breaths

After years working mostly on the DIY scene in New York City, Sean Henry eventually signed to local label Double Double Whammy and stepped into a proper studio for a short string of impressive releases. No dabbling with some new sounds and playing frantic live shows around the city, Henry is slowly dropping some new tunes our way. This first one, “Everything Breathes,” shows a musician who has expertly learned to polish his sound and sprinkle in some subtle hints of pop sounds amongst the noisy rock. It’s a jam and hopefully just a sampling of more to come.

Have Another Sea Lemon Tune

Natalie Lew has really grabbed my attention over the last few months with multiple new singles under her recording moniker Sea Lemon. First we heard the mellow and trippy “Cellar,” followed by the poppier tune “Vaporized,” and now we have this jam called “Breakdown” which features a guest appearance by Day Wave. Compared to other tracks, this one falls into a very heavy and hazy feel with mellow touches and a delicate approach to the presentation. If you have yet to dig into this singles, do it now. Do. It. Now.

Sea Lemon’s new EP entitled Stop at Nothing goes live on Thursday via Luminelle Recordings.

Bobby Emmett Shares Sludgy New Single

Though Detroit based musician Bobby Emmett may be unfamiliar to you, it’s possible you’ll recognize him, like me, from his over the top performances as a touring musician with Sturgill Simpson. Well it turns out Emmett can play a bit, and also has a knack for songwriting as evidenced by his new single “See No Evil.” It’s a sort of boozy, blues inspired jam with touches of funk inspiration and spectacular drum work. Check it out and enjoy below.

Subsonic Eye Share J-O-B

Though the name may be unfamiliar, you will soon want to know everything you can about Singapore based Subsonic Eye after you check out their new single “J-O-B.” I’ve personally already listened to it about 3 times this morning and grow ever enthralled by how such a young band can have such a tight and expansive sound. This one is sure to hit those end of summer playlists before we close out for the season.

New single “J-O-B” will appear on a new album from Subsonic Eye entitled All Around You which is due out on September 13th via Top Shelf Records. Pre-orders are live now.

Check Out A New Single From Snailosaur

Brooklyn based group snailosaur hit our radar back in April with the release of their debut self-titled EP. Since then, we haven’t heard much from the brotherly duo until today with the release of yet another stunner with this new single called “Apartment Boxes (nyc poem).” This one hits me as a tune with a very intricate and deliberate instrumentation similar to a band like The National paired with the deepest of deep vocals akin to someone like Bill Callahan. It comes across as something immediately familiar, but also unique to the band and their layered sound.

Fieldrush Drop New Track “Jay Owen”

We’re off and running with another busy week of quality tunes for you here on ATH and today I am pleased to share with you this new jam “Jay Owen” from the San Diego based outfit Fieldrush. While it might be labeled as post-emo to some, I think the band also offers a ton of energy and more traditional rock elements to pair with the somewhat slower moments. Ya also gotta feel the rhythm section on this one as the drums and bass absolutely slam together during the heaviest parts of the song. Check it out.

This song is part of a debut EP which does not yet have a release date so stay tuned.
