New Music From Woodpigeon

woodpigeonCandian indie rockers Woodpigeon are returning in 2010 with much anticipated release Die Stadt Muzikantan (“that musical city”? My German is not good).  To preview this upcoming album, the band has released this much easier to pronounce single “Empty-Hall Sing-Along”.  I dare you to get that melody/chorus out of your head after you’ve given this one a few spins.  Woodpigeon’s new album will be out January 12th on Boompa Records.

ATH Interviews: Twin Tigers

twintigers_interviewLittle is known about Hotlanta band Twin Tigers other than us knowing that we dig their tunes.  That music loving side of us therefore lead us to believe that you guys should really get to know this band and learn a little about them.  So way back during Fun Fest, Twin Tigers made it through town and we had the chance to speak with frontman Mathew Rain about his band.  I know, leave it to us to take our sweet time posting this one, but we hope you find it worthwhile.  Follow the jump for full interview with Twin Tigers.

The Rentals Wrap Songs About Time Project

06_the-rentalsOver the summer we mentioned Matt Sharp’s year long project with The Rentals Songs About Time and now the endeavor is about to come to a close.  As previously stated, the ambitious undertaking will include 3 EPs, 365 photos for each day of the year, and 52 black & white short films for each week of the year.  Right after the new year, the band also plans to release all of this material in the form of limited and deluxe edition sets with a coffee table book of photos, vinyl versions of the EPs, DVDs for short films, and tons of other goodies all included.  Those limited release editions can be pre-ordered now, but do not yet have a set release date.  If money is an issue, you can stream all the new EPs and check out a sampling of the photos/films in The Rental’s online store.  Below you’ll also find an MP3 of new song “” found on the second EP released this year.  It’s a softer tune that encompasses the theme of love had and lost that seems to ooze from every corner of this huge project.  I suggest you take some time to browse through Mr. Sharp’s very eventful and productive 2009.

New Tunes From Titus Andronicus

ta_mm_04Shortly after the release of their 2008 album The Airing of Grievances, Jersey band Titus Andronicus are returning in 2010 with a new album entitled The Monitor.  The band’s sophomore LP is said to have a civil war theme to it with some spoken word/acting guest appearances by members of the Hold Steady, Vivian Girls and others.  Prior to that release Titus plan to release a 7″ single featuring the two songs we have posted for you below.  These two tracks were apparently meant to be joined into one song and were only split to fit neatly onto a two sided 7″.  I’d suggest firing up our ATH radio so you can hear the two songs together in all their epic glory.  Physical copies of the 7″ single will be available Feb. 9th and the new LP drops March 9th on XL Recordings.  More info and track listing can be found on the PFork.
