The Mohawk is showcasing some up and coming talent on Tuesday night with a show by San Fran prog rockers band French Miami. Opening support will be provided by Follow that Bird and Serious Tracers. Should be your best option for music on a Tuesday night in Austin.

Portugal. The Man are about to embark on a tour of the US, and to celebrate they are releasing a free digital tour EP. The sampler features the band’s tour support Drug Rug, Hockey and Robert Francis. Here’s one of the songs from the EP we told you about a while back called “People Say” from Portugal. The Man. 101x is putting on another Homegrown live at Scoot Inn on Wednesday and features What Made Milwaukee Famous front-man Michael Kingcaid performing with The Motts. Fellow locals TV Torso and Western Ghost House will be joining in for support. Sorry for the lack of info on door times and price, but I tried my best. I LOVE it when no one seems to know shit about an event put on by a big local radio station. Seriously. Anyone have more details?

Another one of those Canada bands eh? Yep this one is called Parlour Steps and they have some new music for you to check it. The track is called “Little Pieces” and will appear on the band’s upcoming album Hidden Names which hits stores October 13th on Nine Mile Records.

Amazon continues their battle against the giants of itunes with more and more free MP3 samplers from small indie labels. This one comes from Paper Bag Records and features the likes of Woodhands, Sally Shapiro and multiple other quality bands on the label. Download it all now or check out this track from the sampler by The Acorn.
Another one of those Brooklyn bands, The Antlers, appeared on the newly revamped Spinner Interface site on Friday. The guys perform several songs mostly from their 2009 release Hospice all of which sound superb in the studio. Here’s their last single “Two” for your enjoyment on this bleak Monday.

We here at ATH are long time fans of Will Johnson and his work in and out of Denton band Centro-matic. We say this because Will is making another stop in Austin at Space 12 on Saturday night and we think you should check it out. If you aren’t familiar with Space 12, it’s a non profit community center on the east side focusing on bringing the arts to the east side. Opening support will be provided by Liz Durrett.

This new tune by Philly songwriter Kurt Vile has been all over the internet the other day and we just can’t resist posting it on the ol ATH. It’s a dirty little guitar heavy tune that’s simple yet somehow memorable at the same time. You can hear this track “Hunchback” and more on upcoming album Childish Progidy out October 6th on Matador Records.

We give a lot of mentions to Throw me the Statue on this here website and we always try to post when the band is stopping in our town. So Friday night is the band’s next Austin show and it’s really cheap! Opening acts are The Brunettes and recent Dead Oceans signee Nurses.
