Are you looking for that dance hit of the summer? If you are, I think Mystery Jets can provide it for you. The band released a single called “Two Doors Down” earlier this year off their new album Twenty One which has already hit stores in the UK. We have no idea when this album will be coming to us in the US so enjoy what you can from the Mystery Jets. You should also check out the video for the song on youtube in all its Duran Duran/A-Ha awesomeness.

Austin Town Hall recently made nice with our friends Radio Free OKC, a podcast/mix tape based out of Oklahoma. Radio Free will be taking a recommended song from Austin Town Hall each week and doing a special segment about our site. This is arguably one of our favorite podcasts around so we are pumped about this new partnership. Go to Radio Free OKC’s website to get this weeks episode featuring the song “Highways of Gold” by Jaguar Love straight from Austin Town Hall. You can also find and download all of Radio OKC’s podcasts for free from the itunes store.
One of our favorite Austin bands Spoon recently sat down with Daytrotter and played a few songs in their studio. One of the songs was a cover of Paul Simon’s “Peace like a River” which has been a live favorite of fans for quite some time now. Catch the Simon cover and three other great Spoon songs live on the Daytrotter web page.
Eef Barzelay, alt-country great and lead singer of Clem Snide will be playing Mohawk on Wednesday with a few other up and coming artists. Eef is touring in support of his new album Lose Big which hits stores tomorrow. Promising opening act Collin Herring wrote what could be one of my favorite songs of the year “Punches”. This should be a good way to spend your Wednesday evening. Check out Mohawk’s website to get tickets.
Here’s the title track off Eef’s new album Lose Big and that great track “Punches” from Colling Herring:

Our crazy bothers from the northern side of the border Wolf Parade are streaming their new album At Mount Zoomer on my favorite social network website. The much anticipated follow-up to 2005’s Apologies to Queen Mary doesn’t hit stores until next week so why not try before you buy? Give it a listen and tell us what you think. Also, Wolf Parade will be blowing through Austin later this summer on July 25th at LaZonaRosa. Purchase your tickets for the show before it sells out! If you just can’t deal with the madness that is myspace, check out the song “Language City” below:

Nashville gents The Features are streaming 3 new songs from their upcoming release Some Kind of Salvation on their myspace page. The album still doesn’t have an official release date so who knows when you will be able to put these songs on the ‘ol ipod. We’ll keep you updated.
The Black Kids just released a new single “hurricane jane” off their forthcoming album Partie Traumatic due out July 7th on Mercury Records. Get ready for your Friday night with some sweet new dance music from The Black Kids.

Shearwater provided an intimate set to the crowd at Waterloo Records on Wednesday. The venue was packed solid with Shearwater supporters who were excited to catch one more glimpse of the band before they head out on tour. Lead singer Jonathan Meiburg started the show off right by belting out several lines of lyrics acapela style just to make sure everyone was paying attention. The band was spot on for their set with each member taking on a “jack of all trades” role and playing a countless number of instruments. (Is that a flute?) Read more
Details about Beck’s new album Modern Guilt have been flooding the news trails on the interweb today. The album is set to be released on June 7th in the UK and June 8th stateside. The album is produced by the great Danger Mouse who seems to be turning everything he touches to gold. The recently released Black Keys album Attack & Release produced by Danger Mouse will surely be in my top ten of the year so I’m sure Beck’s newest will be killer. Beck’s also playing that little thing called ACL Festival later this summer and If you’re still waiting to get tickets to that, stop what you’re doing and buy one now. You can also stream a new song off Beck’s new album on his ilike page entitled “Chemtrail”.
